Book Reviews of Extreme Fat Smash DietBook Review: It works if you have the willpower Summary: 5 Stars
Ok first off I was skeptical. I've never actually dieted before (never really had to until having kids) but I wanted to lose about 15 pounds so I tried it based on what I know about the author. This diet is not a joke, I will admit that I did NOT follow it to the T until half way thru the 2nd week. I don't like many of the things you have to eat each week but I decided to suck it up and see if the diet would work for me.
I lost a total of 9 lbs, 2 inches in my waist, 1 inch on each arm, and 2 inches on my hips. I actually feel tighter and thinner. Like I said, I didn't do the diet the way it was written and only worked out once a day until the 3rd week,(which I don't recommend, if you want to maximize your potential--follow it!!) and I still lost weight. I'm in the middle of moving cross country and didn't want to buy all of the items I need for the diet this close to moving. I did try the brown rice (YUCK) and the beans get old, but try some tricks w/ them like adding the soy sauce or salsa (picante sauce) it makes it a little more bearable. Also look into the substitutes if you don't like the items given on the daily menus. You will find that there are some treats like frozen sorbet, small milk shakes, or smoothies that you may start to look forward to. You can free style on your snacks. Something I used were the 100 cal pre-packaged snacks you can buy and fresh fruits.
I also could not stomach the Morning Star Veggie Burgers,I bought an alternative I REALLY liked, Boca burgers--I believe they are soy and look more like a burger and even have the smokey grilled flavor--dress it up w/ veggies!!
I highly recommend the diet, I didn't think it was going to work but I did lose weight. I'm going to actually try it all the way thru the right way (even w/ the 2/day workouts) when I get settled.
Book Review: Extremely Good Summary: 5 Stars
Lose 12 pounds in 3 weeks claims the book. And after reviewing it, I believe it just might be possible. Written by the author of last year's "The Fat Smash Diet," the idea of this seems to be, if you want big results, you'll have to push yourself beyond normal limits to attain them.
Once again, readers will find Dr. Smith's easy and friendly writing style. At the start of the book, you find out your "dieting type" and then quickly go from there. Since the book is set up for you to lose 12 pounds in 3 weeks, its organized in three 1 week cycles, which is 21 days. For each day, there is a menu plan (four meals a day) and a journal page you to write on. Know too that the exercise recommended each day is cardio. Other goodies include recipes, which easily make up about a third of the book, and a handy appendix ends the book (which contains useful info about BMI's, how to read food labels, etc.).
All in all, I feel like this is a great book that is well laid out and very user friendly. One caveat though. Following the plan may not be easy at times, and the book will tell you this outright. Nonetheless, it should benefit many who struggle with their weight loss demons. Also suggest Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff if a shoulder problem keeps you from exercising.
Book Review: Really works... if you're up to it! Summary: 5 Stars
What I really liked about this book is that it tells you exactly what to eat & exercise to lose weight quickly. It teaches you the healthy way & changes your way of thinking about food. I had a baby and needed to lose 20 lbs. It took me 6 weeks. The first 3 days is the hardest. This is b/c your stomach is used to being stretched out by over eating. Once your stomach gets used to the idea that you'll be feeding it more often and not stretching it out, it isn't as bad. It was not that difficult to keep it off with the maintenance program as a guide since it's pretty obvious. Don't eat junk food all the time! Don't over eat! Exercise!
The only think I didn't like about the book is it was hard to understand some of the meals in the beginning. Like the whey protein shakes (you can use slimfast, I guess). So, you have to decifer some stuff on your own. But, after a week or so it was fine.
It really works if you're ready to change your life. I was raised on fast food and eating out all the time. I never dieted before in my life. I knew I needed an exact plan to follow and this book gives you exactly that. You have to be really dedicated for this to be a success. As you do with any diet.... I'm so happy I did it. I look & feel great now.
Book Review: This Diet is easy to follow, and WORKS! Summary: 5 Stars
Finally, a well written book that tells you exactly what to eat, when to eat, and what exercise will be most effective in helping you drop weight. Dr. Ian is a well respected and educated expert. He does not impose ridiculous restrictions like "no more than 15 grams of sugar (Jorge Cruise), or eliminate entire food groups.
Even though the calories are low, this diet keeps you full. The nutrition is well balanced. If you need to get yourself on the right track in a hurry, this is the way to do it. I only had 10 lbs. to lose, and this was easily accomplished in 3 weeks. I have maintained by repeating the 3 cycles. Some of the critics say it is too low calorie to maintain for life, but I disagree. I am doing just fine, have great energy, clear skin, perfectly heatlhy at age 55! I have never felt better. The human body does not need all that food to function normally...that's a myth. That's why America has an obesity problem...we eat far too much junk.
Smaller portions of healthy quality food is the way to go, and Dr. Ian makes it very easy by telling you EXACTLY what to eat. If you follow his plan to the letter, there is no way you can fail, whether you have 10 lbs. or 200 lbs. to lose.
Book Review: Extreme...kinda, but very effective! Summary: 5 Stars
I read a ton of reviews before I decided to go and buy this book. I read reviews from all kinds of websites including Amazon. Most of the things I read were fairly positive.
Dr. Ian did an excellent job of getting straight to the point with this book. He explained why it was extreme, why your metabolism/body chemistry operates the way it does, your body type, and then the actual diet. Honestly, I'm not a fan of anything that has the word diet in it. I think that we should all focus on a healthier eating LIFESTYLE. However, once I read the book, it really gears you toward making healthier food choices based on portion sizes In Cycles 1-3, and then the lifestyle changes in the Maintenance Phase. I read this book in one afternoon and started my diet the next day. I am currently on Cycle 2, day 2. But in Cycle 1 alone I lost a whopping 7 lbs! I did the diet 95% except for 2-3 nights I had to have an extra snack, but I completed the exercise each day. So it defintely works.
I'm a vegetarian, so it wasn't that hard for me. If you think in terms of deprivation, you will only fail at some point in the diet, but just stick with it and it will not disappoint you.
