Book Reviews of Excuse Me!: A Little Book of MannersBook Review: Adorable and to the Point! Summary: 5 Stars
First I must say the price of this book was very reasonable. I find so many children's books to be so grossly overpriced, honestly.
We love this book - the illustrations are so cute and adorable - visually easy for a young child to comprehend and enjoy. The writing is simple, to the point (important with a toddler!) and holds my child's interest. The flaps are a bonus - our son likes to help open them and listens for the answer to such questions like "When you burp, what do you say?" ("Excuse Me!"). I think this is a wonderful first manners book for any baby/toddler.
Book Review: Super CUTE!! Summary: 5 Stars
My duaghters LOVE this book. When I read it I change the names like "Grandma" to "Nana" or "treat" i read "candy" because that's the term they know best. My oldest who is almost 3, likes to practice her manners and since she got this book as a gift, she uses them more often and correctly. It really shocks strangers when they tell her she's pretty and she says "Thank you!" Or if she hands something to someone and they say Thank you and she says "You're welcome!" The only negative is my husband doesn't like the term "burp" but I think it's OK to use.
Book Review: We LOVE this book! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter and I have been reading Karen Katz books together since she was able to sit up. This is an excellent addition to our collection! My daughter is now two-and-a-half, and she just LOVES the lift-a-flaps in these books. We have been working on manners, so this book is perfect. After reading these books a few times together, my daughter is able to read it back to me from memory, and she feels so proud when she finishes a book by herself. I highly recommend this and all of the Karen Katz books!!
Book Review: Great for a two year old Summary: 5 Stars
This is an adorable book. The fact that it teaches manners is an added bonus. To me, the importance is that my two year old granddaughter can "read" it herself. At first I thought she could just give me the answers to the questions and that was cute enough. But then I overheard her "reading" it to her baby doll. What great self confidence this builds in a toddler. It is the best time to start building self esteem and making a child feel "smart".
Book Review: 1 1/2 year old's favorite book Summary: 5 Stars
While I think the book will be terrific in a year to actually teach manners, at this point, my little guy is just entertained by the book. The pictures are simplistically expressive. He giggles every time we get to the second scenario (saying "Excuse me" when burping). He likes the participation of the turning pages. We typically end up reading this book 10 times a day, with my little fellow signing for more as I turn the last page....
