This grammar book does not really hold your hand with anything. It assumes you have a good grasp of the language before hand, and that is almost a requirement before you can absorb any of the material within.
But the book itself I found was very good with explaining some of the finer points of Russian grammar, even with good examples. It's also a very short book, and manages to get everything across in a couple pages - and Russian grammar is generally considered one of those things that you just can't condense.
Now I'm sure it doesn't cover everything, but it will help you understand quite a bit better. You may have to re-read it a few times to even begin to grasp the material, but it is all very helpful and will teach you.
Beginners, however, should stay away from the book, or buy it and wait to use it until they are further in their studies. The amount of material presented could be rather discouraging.
