I am attempting to teach myself AS3 and I have no prior study of computer languages. This book is the best for defining what, why, and how AS is put together to good use. I have Flash, and I do not have Flex. It helps fill the gaps to the questions left by several other books that pertain to Flash.Book Review: Awesome.....but not for a beginner

Once again Colin Moock provides us with the most comprehensive disection of Actionscript available. Aessential Actionscript 3.0 is the Gospel of AS3. If you are moving up from AS2, this book is all you will need. However, if you are a newbie, I suggest finding a more introductory book first.Book Review: Comprehensive and Well Written

I have been very impressed with this book. I have a very limited knowledge of programming, and no real practice, and I'm about 1/2 way through the book so far, and I've actually understood almost all I've read! I really liked Mr.Moock's book, as it goes from the fundamentals to crystal clear object oriented programming. As an AS2 programmer I filled gaps to make a succesfull switch to ActionScript3.0, and got a good grip in Flex also. Recommended!
