Book Reviews of Essential ActionScript 3.0 (Essential)Book Review: Thorough and Indespensible Summary: 5 Stars
This book covers everything in perfect detail and order. You will never get that feeling that you're missing something when reading this book, it is completely thorough. You will never see that line, "...but you don't need to know about that" in this book; you will get a proper explanation of everything. Don't get the idea that this book is boring or too detail-oriented - it is also perfectly suited for a quick reference, as the information is wonderfully organized. I am obviously a big fan.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Book Review: Essential is a Very Appropriate Title Summary: 5 Stars
No matter if you are new to actionscript 3.0 or a experienced developer - you have to have and read this book. It's simple like that. It is, as the title says, essential. For me, besides having access to great explanations about how actionscript works, which is something you will not find anywhere else, this book helped a lot to improve the way I was writing my code - and I am not a developer, just a nosy designer.
Book Review: Taught me AS Summary: 5 Stars
With no previous programing experience but basic Flash timeline coding this book got me hand-coding pure object-orientated as3.
And it's usually a more accurate and faster reference than what I find via Google.
In short, would be an intimidating introductionto Flash, but if you've got the basics of AcitonScript, this book will you give a very solid foundation to build upon.
Book Review: A very good starting point Summary: 5 Stars
This book covers the most important aspects of the ActionScript 3 language, giving a step by step and detailed explanation of programming language and graphics API; easy and clear examples help to figure out how to apply what it explains in each chapter. Good choice if you are starting from zero with ActionScript 3, but also a nice reference for who comes from previous versions of the language.
Book Review: An invaluable reference. Summary: 5 Stars
ESSENTIAL ACTIONSCRIPT 3.0 by Colin Moock is for advanced programming libraries and for ActionScript web developers who seek a detailed reference on the topic. ActionScript 3.0 is a major upgrade to Flash programming: it's faster and more sophisticated and requires a deeper level of understanding - offered up by ESSENTIAL ACTIONSCRIPT 3.0 alone, making for an invaluable reference.
