Escape From Warsaw
BY
Eric Godsey
I just read ESCAPE FROM WARSAW. It was a great book.
This book has a great rising action. It has great detail like when Joseph knocked out a Nazi soldier and stole the uniform in the rising action. It was exciting when Joseph dressed as a Nazi solider and passed by a bar where the soldiers hung out when they were on break. Then a Nazi solider comes up to Joseph and asks for a pack of cigarettes. Finally, Joseph gets away and hid in a cage and escaped from prison.
It's also a great survival book. It describes how three children escape and survive on their own during a war. Since the parents have been taken to prison camp, the children try to escape from Warsaw. They survive by stealing food and living in a cellar. Next they head into the woods, sleep on the ground and work for food. One night they are sleeping in hay in a barn. When they wake up, one of the kids got poked by something. It was a metal fork, one of the ones that are used for grabbing hay. It was a farmer and he realized that something was moving in the hay. He soon realized that it was one of the children. The farmer is not mad and tells his wife to make them some breakfast. While the children eat their breakfast, they tell the farmers their story . The farmers feel bad for them and try to help them escape from Warsaw. They face many dangers on their escape from the soliders and the weather, etc. And that is as far as I will tell you in the story!
This book also has a great climax. It describes the children finding their dad and mom. The children become excited. They tell their parents their adventure about the escape from Warsaw. The story then tells you great detail about their trip
You go from sad to happy in this book. The climax is the children find their parents and become a family again. Plus there is more to come about the children before the story ends.
Summary of Escape from Warsaw (Original title: The Silver Sword)In 1942 Warsaw, World War II is raging, and people live in fear from day to day. Ruth, Bronia, and Edek have to fend for themselves when both of their parents are taken by the Nazis. Can they survive? A gripping story based on true accounts.
