Book Reviews of Ernest Jones' Swing the ClubheadBook Review: Finally broke 80!!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I can't say enough about what this book did for my golf game. I've been struggling in the in the mid 80's for years and finally broke the 80 barrier with a 78!
Bought the book about 3 1/2 months ago and have been working with the idea of just focusing on the drills and thinking of swinging the clubhead - leaving mechanics to take care of themselves.
All I can say is what Ernest Jones teaches works! And it works for the average player who hasn't spent 5 hours a day for ten years working on his swing.
Give this book a try and really try to implement what it teaches and you will get better. The lesson it contains is subtle, but when you get it, you'll only be thinking of where you want the ball to go and swinging the clubhead.
Book Review: Pure Ernest Jones Regardless of Title Summary: 5 Stars
Ernest Jones wrote two books. They are as follows: "Swinging into Golf" and "Swing the Clubhead and Cut Your Golf Score". "Swing The Clubhead" was a reprint done by Golf Digest as part of there Classic Series. Jones's teachings revolved around his thesis that by swinging the clubhead rather than worrying about what all the body parts were supposed to do would provide the straightest and fastest path to a golfer reaching his or her potential. I suggest all you critics of the title of this book take a look at the publishers statement in the editorial review of this book. I want to personally thank the publisher for making available to the masses this timeless classic.
Book Review: You've got to get that swingin' feelin'..., Summary: 5 Stars
This book gives a solid foundation to learning the most important aspect of the golf game -- the Swing. Without it, I would probably still be spending more time fixing divots on the fairway than enjoying the game of golf. Jones has some simple and effective techniques to develop the feel of the swing. It's seems awkward at first (especially for those who have learned to 'whip' their clubs) but once you get the feel of the club, you'll be amazed at how fast your clubs gets the ball to your target. Overall, it's not a band-aid solution, but rather a solid foundation to build upon your game.
Book Review: A Simple Approach to Learning the Golf Swing Summary: 5 Stars
After reading the book, I went out to the range and hit shot after shot with solid contact and pretty good accuracy. I am a 20 handicap and could not seem to make solid contact. I thought that it was a fluke, so I went back to the range the next day and again hit the ball solidly. I hope to take it to the course next week. Some of the body movements are out of date but the idea of swinging the club is still way ahead of it's time compared to present teaching.
Book Review: Swing that Clubhead! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is an absolute must for the weekend duffers to the pro's. I have used the concepts in this book and they work. It brought 3 club championships & I maintain a 2 handicap! So forget the mechanical jargon and the popular misconception that the hips start the downswing! Learn it, practice it, & swing the clubhead for better golf! Also De La Torre's book Understanding the Golf Swing is a great companion to this book!
