Book Reviews of Enemies Foreign and Domestic

Book Review: A "Must Read" For Every American Gun Owner!
Summary: 5 Stars

Enemies Foreign and Domestic (EFAD) is an outstanding novel. The author manages to weave a lot of useful facts into a fictional storyline. The tale is compelling, the scenario is plausible, the writing is well crafted, the characters are believable, and most importantly the story is unquestionably VERY thought provoking.

I highly recommend that you buy a copy of EFAD. Strike that! Buy at least two copies--because if you buy just one you'll lend it out and it will get passed on and on, and never return!

As an author myself (I wrote the pro-gun survivalist novel Patriots: Surviving the Coming Collapse) I can appreciate the tremendous effort that obviously went into writing EFAD. Matt Bracken's attention to detail is outstanding. He manages to meld the "micro" details with the "macro" scenario almost seamlessly. That is a rare gift.

EFAD is indeed a "must read" for every American gun owner. It belongs on the bookshelf of everyone that loves liberty.

Book Review: There but for the grace of God...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a magnificent first novel. It's a real page-turner and kept me up late a couple of nights. I'd put it in the same category as John Ross's "Unintended Consequences" and Carl Bussjaeger's "Net Assets" as powerful novels of liberty, oppression and their inevitable consequences.

The plot is highly credible and well thought-out. The characters are mostly well-delineated and the author has assembled a nicely representative collection of "gun nuts" and "liberty wonks" as his heroes. No supermen here, just ordinary people in extra-ordinary circumstances. Best of all he has a heroine, something often omitted from action-based stories like this one. Ranya is the sort of woman the world needs more of.

We're seeing more and more of this type of very near future dystopia in novels of late. I'm not sure whether it's a reflection of the direction we're headed in or the voices of prophets crying out "don't go there!". I hope it's the latter.

Book Review: This Book Kicks Tail!
Summary: 5 Stars

Sometimes stories of this type can be way too far-fetched or just plain hokey. Not "Enemies Foreign and Domestic!" You can tell from the get-go Bracken knows what he is writing about and has done his homework. The characters are well developed and seem completely real, as is the drama they find themselves caught up in. Bracken sets a great pace throughout, creating a real page-turner that's fun to read. He does a great job of setting you right in the thick of the action- not just in one place, but switching between many different aspects of the tale to keep you moving with the whole picture. It is entirely believable. You won't look at your cell phone the same way again! I highly recommend once you read this one get his next in the series, "Domestic Enemies." It continues the story from a whole new angle, and is another great read. These aren't just great stories with great characters; they will also make you think about America and the freedom we take for granted.

Book Review: Impossible to put down...
Summary: 5 Stars

In the age of Obama, we see the US government taking over private businesses under the pretext of "saving" them...

We see our Congress ignoring the will of the people and passing knee-jerk legislation in the middle of the night behind closed doors... and adding provisions to the legislation that they hope will make it impossible to repeal.

Matt Bracken's book is an incredible exploration of just what such a government run amok might look like in a few years... it is up to every freedom loving American to wake up before it is too late and ensure that our precious liberties are not taken away by these power-hungry Congresspeople and the current occupant of the Oval Office.

The evils of tyranny are rarely seen but by him who resists it. - John Hay (1872)

Get all three of these books and read them. It will give you a new respect for our freedom.

Book Review: I hope I never have to witness this.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a story that could happen. A goverment agency that is supposed to uphold the law conspires to frame people so they can become more powerful and to take away freedoms and rights. They plant evidence, blow up people and say they are bomb makers. They burn gun stores and say it's anti- gun activists and murder or kidnap people then frame them for crimes. Who can stop them? They are the ones who control evidence and do the investigations. The answer to who can stop them is the common citizen. This book says the people have power but you must also have courage and resourcefullnes. This book is about how important our Constitution and Bill of Rights are and why we shouldn't mess with it or dilute it. This book gives food for thought for those agree or disagree with the authors views.
