Book Reviews of Enemies Foreign and Domestic

Book Review: Excellent Book
Summary: 5 Stars

The story grabbed my attention right away and like a constricting boa, it didn't let go and only pulled me in tighter. The story forces you to face up to that dark thought which lurks in the back of every freedom loving American. I am not talking about the idea that the events depicted in this book would ever come to pass, for they surely must, but rather about what each of us will do when that "awkward stage" ends. That will be the defining moment for each of us and the character which we profess to possess. When that moment comes to each of the characters in this story, we are drawn along with them through their defining moment and ever always we are left to consider the price we would be willing to pay.

When the story ends and you are left to ponder what has just happened, Matthew Bracken comes back on the last page with a warning shill ... a warning for those who would subdue their fellow man and for those who would stand up to them. For those who would subdue and dominate, a warning of what they would face. For those who would stand up, a warning of the cost, a reminder of history and a challenge to vigilance.

Superb book.

Book Review: A very worthwhile read.
Summary: 5 Stars

In "Enemies: Foreign & Domestic" Matthew Bracken takes the reader through a terrifyingly believable and realistic - especially now that we have the most liberal president in American history sitting in the White House - collapse of both law & order and freedom, resulting in a low intensity civil war in the very near future . When a rogue element within the government attacks the audience at a NFL game on the opening day of the season, and then blames it on a "right-wing" terrorist group in order to create more power for itself, the result is a ban on all semi-auto firearms and a rapidly intensifying civil war in which being a Left-wing politician or a federal agent is clearly hazardous to one's health!

Bracken takes the reader through this story from the very beginning as seen through the eyes of several key characters and does so in such a way as to make the reader believe that this is actually something that could happen in the U.S. today.

It is both terrifying and engrossing; I was unable to put it down for the two days that it took me to finish it. I highly recommend it!

Book Review: A real page turner!
Summary: 5 Stars

In the aftermath of a massacre at a football stadium, Congress passes emergency legilation banning all semi-automatic "assault weapons". American gun owners are instant pariahs, but respond to this violation of the constitution. This book accurately portrays what could happen if the portion of American society that desires to see all firearms registered, confiscated and eventually banned gets their way. This book shows how the "gun grabbers" could manipulate and shape events to spark a backlash against gun owners. In fact, it is not too differnet from the gun grabbers using tragedies such as school shootings to further their own political ends. The book also shows one possible response of the American gun owning public. American gun owners have been like a sleeping giant for far to long. Hopefully books such as this well help to awaken that sleeping giant before it is too late, and we become a nation of "sheeple" (to use one of the author's terms). The book is well written, the characters are believable, and likeable, and the book was very hard to put down.

Book Review: ....Cold, Dead Fingers
Summary: 5 Stars

Mr. Bracken's accurate portrayal of our government's propensity to breach its constitutional limits, almost on a daily basis, and the resultant anger seething just below the surface of our body politic; has caused him to pen a mighty tome of what could be an immediate, but avoidable scenario of civil war which could escalate past the limits set forth in his novel that would pale in comparison with 1860 because there is not a distinct Mason Dixon Line. In today's body politic, there are Mason Dixon Lines in every neighborhood.

This novel will not waken those of us who suffer from the consciousness of conformity. This novel is for those of us who are fully conscious of the value of sovereignty whether it be as individuals or as "one People". This novel has allowed me not to fear what I have been thinking and feeling for quite some time. This novel has brought me back to my youth and what I learned in the Boy Scouts, 'Be Prepared'.

With this novel, Mr. Bracken is threatening Mr. Vince Flynn's claim to the mountain top.

Book Review: A great fictional story that may be closer to reality than you think
Summary: 5 Stars

As a strong patriot, I recommend this book to everyone.

Whether you believe in federal agents flying around in black helicopters, a slow chipping away at our second amendment rights, a federal government using the "war on terror" to take away other rights given to us in the Bill of Rights or if you are just looking for a great yarn, then this is the book for you.

Those that feel the people should not own guns should see what would likely happen to your freedoms without guns. Bracken writes a story about what a lot of people would do if the federal government took too much from the people. It is "We the people" that gives the government the level of authority it has.

Bracken covers everything in this book. Once you pick this book up and start reading it, you will not be able to set it down. You might as well pick up the sequel now as well, because once you are done with Enemies Foreign and Domestic, you are going to want to start on Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista.
