Book Reviews of Enemies Foreign and DomesticBook Review: A great RKBA read Summary: 5 Stars
From the opening scene to the ending of Enemies Foreign and Doestic, I was hooked! And it is hard to hook me.
The book is absolutely terrifying. I have often wondered how easy it would be for some corrupt policemen to work together for private goals instead of upholding the law. This book paints a clear picture of such corruption.
Ranya is a suprising main charachter. I never expected to see a lady starring in such a pro-gun read. Not only is she incredible as a charachter, she is a person I would like to meet.
Ranya keeps her wits and does not let fear stop her once she makes up her mind to do something. She risks her life to stand up for what she believes in. When life keeps throwing her punches, she keeps her footing and fights back.
This book shows how the media's sensationalism can be used by the government to feed off the people's fear. The dangers of a strong government that is allowed to take action without listening to what the public needs or wants is accurately portrayed. The government is shown as what it has the potential to become during a time of uncertianity when the public is grasping for security instead of taking steps to ensure it's own safety.
All in all, Enemies Foreign and Domestic will leave the reader with a lot to think about. Fast paced and full of action, the book delivers a strong message that deserves a lot of consideration.
Book Review: Enemies Foreign and Domestic Summary: 5 Stars
I found this book to be one of the best books I've read on the potential situations that the current gun owning public and the gun culture(a distinct difference),face in the rising tide of willful and deliberate disinformation and misinformation campaigns being passed on as fact by a certain faction of people who want unfettered control of the masses. This book explains possible scenarios that could trigger mass hysteria, retaliatory actions and fraudulent or poor decision making on the part of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government. Something which is already happening in the office of the Attorney General here. This book depicts both a warning and possibly more likely an accurate depiction of the outcome of pushing tens of millions of law abiding, honest citizens to their limits of tolerance of governmental abuse. Honestly I feel the outcome will be far worse, should such a scenario or similar, be perpetrated by our government. The abuses of recent decades have already galvanized the opinions of many and it is high time that the sheeple of this country grow up, wake up and stand up to the reality before them, rather than slink back into the shadows of the fraud that so pervades their entire existance. Take responsibility for your actions and demand the same from all others...including and especially government. If you haven't read it, get it, read it and pass it on.
Book Review: Really good novel about freedom, guns and an oppressive government. Summary: 5 Stars
If you're a gun owner and/or believe in liberty and enjoy fast paced fiction then this book's for you. It's a thick book with a good plot and good character development (a must for any good novel), so you're getting your money's worth here.
The premise is this: A Gulf War Vet with an SKS is blamed for one of the worst massacres in US history and the government uses this as an excuse to ban "assault rifles" and then a short time later they also ban rifles with scopes on them ("sniper rifles" is what they call them instead of "deer rifles" which is what most of them are). A government alphabet agency and its director then does it's best to stir up trouble with unwarranted attacks on prominent gun owners so that it can rise in prestige within the federal law enforcement community by putting down the "Gun Nuts" and "Constitutional Extremists" (as if that's a bad thing to be one of those things). A small hunt and fish club and a few gun owners who associated with it is then portrayed by this agency as the cause of all the trouble and ordinary freedom loving Americans are forced to fight for what they believe in against this agency.
A well written novel and one that you should buy if you like this type of novel. If you like Molon Labe, Patriots or other books written about this same kind of thing then you'll like this book as well and it's a good addition to your SHTF and survival book collection.
Book Review: A Glimpse Of The Near Future? Summary: 5 Stars
In "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" author Matthew Bracken lays out a 568-page novel of a power hungry, out of control leader of a Federal SWAT team type organization who engineers a contrived sniper-driven massacre at a local football stadium.
Character development is excellent, and don't let the book's mass deter you; this is a fast paced page-turner with some innovative, creative and believable plot twists.
On the heels of stadium sniper shooting, extreme anti-gun legislation is ram rodded through a spineless congress, aided of course by the lazy and clueless Main Stream Media. Using the guise of "national safety" and the Homeland Security Department, the Patriot Act is the vehicle by which funds are obtained and draconian laws passed attacking the Second Amendment, no-knock warrants requirements and government seizures of property. Regardless of your political leanings, you'll recognize some of these measures as being as fresh as last night's newscast.
The plot's several interesting developments centers on the efforts to battle these extreme new laws and expose the diabolical true facts behind the stadium murders.
A rare (for this reviewer), well deserved 5-star effort, and I think the reader will enjoy it.
Book Review: Great futuristic thriller! Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book when it first came out,and am anxiously awaiting a sequel. Looking for a sequel is what brought me here today.
This is a GREAT read that is a thriller which is set in the near future. It's not so political or "gun culture insider" that casual readers will be turned off by partisan politics or feel like they need to take a gunsmithing course to understand the terms used. Please note that it is NOT "Jame Bond shooting down a helicopter with a 25 ACP pocket pistol", nonsense that will insult your intelligence, though. Where firearmes are mentioned, they are correctly identified and used.
Like all good books,it is not about politics or guns, though. It is about people and the things that inspire them. Things like loyalty, love, and friendship. None of these people are super heroes who are out on a crusade to save the world. They aren't even Particularly political or involved in current events. They are normal people going about normal lives, and they just get drawn into these events by accident. The main characters in the book don't remain characters, they become friends you care about.
In short,I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good read.
