This book serves as a great resource for language lovers who are curious about expressions, idioms, slang and phrases specific to a region or group of speakers in this case Puerto Ricans. Compiled by a Boricua from the island confirms the authenticity of the resource and is a reflection of Puerto Rican Spanish spoken mostly on the island. The book is organized alphabetically with explanations of the vocabulary and expressions. It's important to note that this dictionary is completely documented in Spanish. The origin of some of the words and expressions are also noted for example 'indigenismo' or 'afronegrismo'. I found it also interesting that quite a few of the expressions were common in the Dominican Republic and Cuba which is yet more evidence of the linguistic similarity among these three nations. If you are curious about a PR expression chances are it's documented in this dictionary. A worthy purchase.
