Customer Review: 3.5 Stars - A Nice Surprise!

I saw this book in my local bookstore a couple of weeks ago, so of course I snatched it up. In the 3rd book in the Cassandra Palmer series, Cassie's main motiviation is to find the Codex Merlini, a book of ancient and powerfull spells. Why does she want to get her hands on this book? Well, she promised the dark fey king in the last book she would get it for him but the main reason is to break the geis between her and Mircea - supposedly the counterspell is in this book. The geis has seemed to double its strand and is now driving Mircea to the brink of insanity which puts him and all the vampires who serve him at risk.
All in all this was an enjoyable read and the best book in the series so far. Chance really concentrates on Pritkin's character and back story, which I loved since he is one of my favorite characters. Mircea and Cassie also have some great scenes together as well. However, as in the previous books Chance still digresses from the main plot into several mini sub plots along the way. For some reason this writing style really bothers me and makes the story seem disorganized. The non stop action is exciting but it feels a little rushed. However, I'm hooked on this series and I will keep reading.
