Book Reviews of Eldest (The Inheritance Cycle)

Book Review: Dragon Flying and learning to heal wounds unabrid 8cds
Summary: 4 Stars

The author, Christopher Paolini, writes enchantingly about young Eragon and his dragon Saphira. Eragon travels to Ellesmera, the land of the elves, with Saphira. He trains as the legendary "Dragon Rider," a protector against the evil King Galbatorix. Eragon learns how to cast magic spells, how to swordfight and how to heal wounds.

One thing he can't understand is his growing love for the elven Princess Arya. She is so different to him, from different people, he finds her ways and manner much harder to relate to than someone of his own blood. On the one hand he knows it is his destiny to act as saviour for his and her people.

When the action adventure begins against the evil king's army, watch out! You'll be hooked on this book because of the page-turning excitement. Eragon's bravery and the danger he faces everyday will keep you up all night listening to see what happens next.

Book Review: Eldest by Christopher Paolini
Summary: 4 Stars

Eldest of the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini is peopled with humans, dwarfs, elves and other magical beings and yes, there are terrible creatures bent on destruction of peace, beauty and innocence. It is a story rich with the love and protection by a beautiful dragon imprinted before her hatching upon a young man named Eragon, orphaned and ordained to save the world he lives in, to protect it from many evils. He has friends who help, though there are those whom he can't truly trust... who seem at first glance to be friends. But his wise and wonderful Saphira is always looking out for him...her Dragon Rider. This is a beautiful, poetic story. A 'real-live fantasy.' B. W. Cloud, Author of... 'Warriors of Planet Earth'-Book One in the series of The Incredible Adventures of The Tadpole Brothers.

Book Review: A worthy sequel
Summary: 4 Stars

Negatives: The plot is fairly predictable, like the first book's. Some of the characters and subplots, Nasuada's and Roran's most especially, just aren't as interesting as the main one. There are still some examples of not-quite-fine prose, though less than in the first book.

Pluses: More imaginative elements than in Eragon, especially where magic is concerned. The characters, Eragon and Saphira especially, stay true to the previous book, while developing in new ways all the same. The plotting in this book is tighter in most places, and Paolini does an excellent job of bringing conflicts down to an every-day level. Eldest has the same life and vitality that Eragon has, but with lots of new ideas and people supporting the story. It's a worthy sequel.

Book Review: Better
Summary: 4 Stars

Christopher Paolini has certainly grown as a writer. The writing is miles ahead of Eragon, although still cringe worthy in some places. Still deriative, although he has enough unique ideas to separate him from Tolkien. Way better than Eragon, although still weak. If Paolini continues to advance his writing skills with the release of each book than by the time the Inheritance Cycle is over it may be a classic.

Need a light read than I highly recommend it. Wanting to get back to those classic epic fantasy stories about a farmboy, I highly recommend it. Seeking to see if Eldest is any better than Eragon I definetly recommend it.

Book Review: I like this book
Summary: 4 Stars

There wasn't much that happened, except for a humoungous tremendous battle, and golden dragon. Even though Eragon was being very stupid. But what happened Christopher Paolini put into very close detail. He used a lot of weird words. For every five pages there were four words that I didn't know, such as "alembic" or "sanguine." My favorite character was Sephira. The fate of the dragons lies in her hands. You learn Eragon's true identity. And he is no longer human. You learn how Galbatorix is gaining power in gramarye. Most of the book takes place in the elf city of Ellesmera. There's a lot of dramatic changes in the story.
