Book Reviews of Edie: American GirlBook Review: Probably The Best Book on Edie Summary: 5 Stars
This is THE Edie book to buy if your only going to buy one. It is an honest biographical look at her with many insights into her life from family and friends. A large portion of the beginning of the book is devoted to the Sedgwick family and their history and I feel if you really want to understand Edie you have to know about her family and their past. A great book overall, very well rounded with some great photos included as well.
Book Review: A truly fascinating character Summary: 5 Stars
Even though Edie only appears after about 200 pages, the rest of the book more than makes up for it. Very rarely do archetypes actually exist, but Edie was, at her peak, pure decadence. Almost more like a character in a novel than a real person, reading this book should disabuse anyone of the notion that living like Edie did was something worthwhile- she is truly best worshipped from afar.
Book Review: Candid, emotional, telling read about Edie and the 60s... Summary: 5 Stars
Great photos, great commentary from those who knew Edie on the most personal levels. Great and eye opening accounts of what it was like to live in the sixties, the drug use, the sex, the music, the scene. Really great book that I'm thrilled to add to my library.
Book Review: Spellbound Summary: 5 Stars
Fantastic book. Told from a quirky angle, but is able to get opinions pinned down. Shows a neat look into the life of Edie and has some great side plots and stories.
Book Review: Couldn't put it down Summary: 5 Stars
Compelling biography - masterfully edited by Plimpton. Great glimpse into the world of the sixties. Edie was a fascinating, tragic personality. A must read.
