Book Reviews of Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals

Book Review: My son loves this book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book for my 7-yr-old son on a whim because I saw it on Amazon, and it sparked a memory... I had this very same book when I was a kid! I suddenly remembered it so clearly; I drew all the critters in this book. Well, my son LOVES this book. He carries it around with him all day. He looks at it before he goes to sleep at night. He draws and draws and draws. And the remarkable thing about it is that I couldn not get him interested in art or drawing before we got this book. Thank you Ed Emberley!

Book Review: Passing it on to the next generation
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book in the 70's at a school book fair. It's one of those childhood items I've managed to keep. I ran across it recently while doing some spring cleaning. The cover is worn. There are some scribblings done by my younger sister. I also found some of my early experiments with four letter words.

My sister asked if I still had it, as my two year old niece has started her own scribbling. I'm sending her a new copy, and hope she will keep her copy as long as I've owned mine.

Book Review: Teriffic buy
Summary: 5 Stars

My almost three year old grandson likes dragons and other more common animals. This book makes it easy to sketch everything from alligators to dogs. (No kangaroos, though. We like kangaroos, which without instruction tend to turn out looking kind of like big mice.In fact anything I have tried to draw without Ed Emberly's help tends to look like a big mouse, which my grandson is quick to point out.) I highly recommend this book, which has helped improve the critiques of my artistic skill.

Book Review: Perfect book for beginning artists
Summary: 5 Stars

Ed Emberley has a wonderful way of teaching not only children but artistically challenged adults (like myself) how to produce simple, but adorable drawings of animals. Personally, I can barely draw stick figures, but I was actually able to follow Emberley's easy instructions and ended up producing drawings that actually looked like the instructional examples in the book! Both of my children loved this book and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to learn the basics of drawing.

Book Review: Great book for anyone who wants to learn to draw
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book for my 4 1/2 year old but really for myself since I'm a horrible artist! This book allowed us to draw the animals together and he was able to follow the steps easily. If you can write the letter "D", "C" and stright and squiggly lines you can duplicate any animal is this book. Pretty cool since my son used to not like art of any sort but now he is in this drawing phase. I'm going to buy some other of these books in the series.
