Book Reviews of Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals

Book Review: HELP, I can't stop drawing!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this book for my son for Christmas, and it looked like fun--the animals in it, though very simply made were incredibly cute--so I just had to try a few of them out before I wrapped it. Soon I was filling page after page with colorful, adorable Emberley-style creatures. Oh my, how sweet they looked! I love the giraffe, the lion, the lady bug,...well, all of them, really.

These guys are going to be my new "doodle-bugs" instead of my usual lines which I do when I am bored. Everyone will be so impressed at how talented I am! Seriously, Emberley is some kind of genius to work out all these amazing critters to draw.

The animals are colorful (I like to do them in markers best), and are made of just a few basic shapes and lines. Each step in the process (about five steps, I think) is clearly outlined, and fool-proof.

My son likes the book, too. Oh, and he is a college graduate, 23 years old, and he says, "all of my friends are artists, but I can't draw at all". Pretty much, true. It was sort of a gag-gift, but a real gift at the same time.

You can also give this book to children.

Book Review: Ed Emberley inspires my daughter in all her drawings and doodles
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter brought home two of Ed Emberley's drawing books from the school library.

She immediately began to draw little cartoons and towns and people using the books as guides to her work.

When she showed me her work I was amazed and quite tickled to see how well she had done.

She was totally into these books for the time period that she had them. When I looked on Amazon to see if they were something stocked (the books from the libary were quite old and well worn) I was pleasantly suprised to see that they are still sold and in paperback form no less.

For the price that Amazon had them at, the 4 for 3 promotion that was applied, and the sheer joy of my 10 year old daughter, I had to order four of them.

As far as drawing books go, she has never been so pleased.

They are well worth the investment as your child will be provided with hours of entertainment if drawing is one of their favorite activities.

Highly recommended!

Book Review: Great book for children that like to draw
Summary: 5 Stars

My 8 year old daughter loves to draw things in general. Unfortunately, the only drawing classes I could find for her age were for coloring Zerox copies of other drawings or gluing color paper on other drawings. My daughter lost interest in drawing altogether.

I then found this book with great reviews and I bought it for her. The same day it arrived, she spent the whole afternoon following the lessons and drawings on the book. The next day she got more advanced drawing books from the library.

This book has been instrumental in bringing the passion of drawing back into her life. The book is very simple, easy to read and follow. It is for beginners and young age. I highly recommend it.

Book Review: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this book. I had this book as a child (in the 80's) and I was so excited to see that I could purchase one for my daughter. My child is in pre-school and has been practicing drawing basic shapes. Ed Emberley's book teaches children (and adults) how to draw animals by piecing together basic shapes such as squares, circles, triangles, etc. The directions are easy to follow, and show you step-by-step how to combine different shapes into a final product. I would recommend this book for any age group, from a child who is just learning to draw to an adult who loves to doodle.

Book Review: Simple and sweet way to teach children to draw
Summary: 5 Stars

Recently I bought Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals for my five year old daughter who loves art, but wanted more formal training. This book is *perfect*! Everything about it is tailored for children who can draw some shapes and it progresses from simple animals to the lovely, elaborate dragon at the end. My daughter is learning how to draw better shapes (and animals) without getting frustrated. The step-by-step simple instructions capture a child's attention and makes them more focused on the process than the end result. Overall, a really wonderful book!
