Book Reviews of Eating For LifeBook Review: Good Ideas for Health Summary: 5 Stars
Phillips creates his exercise and diet plans based on both his peersonal experience and that of his clients. Eating for Life is somewhat liike a sequel to his Body for Life book, which I used to develop a diet and exercise plan that has helped me lose over 60 pounds in the past year. I eat a reasonably balanced diet comprised of 40% protein, 30% carbohydrates, and 30% fat. The fat may be a bit high for some people, but combined with one hour of exercise per day, it seems to work out. Phillips goes beyond what I have described above, to discuss how food and exercise impacts your metabolism. He also gives plenty of examples of how other people have used his plan to find greater levels of health and fitness. I noticed Jamba Juice also carries his books--which is a recommendation in itself. However, don't waste your money with this book if you plan on working Phillip's plan half-hearted. His plan requires discipline and hardwork.
Book Review: Delicious and healthy!! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is GREAT!! The meals are simple to cook, generally cheap, and above all healthy! There are plenty of breakfast meals, lunches, dinners, and even snacks to keep you eating a wide variety of meals for a long time. Additionally, in typical Bill Phillips fashion, the book starts off with educational text which is designed to teach you about food, nutrition, and diet. Through out the book you will also find inspirational words to keep you motivated and to support your positive lifestyle choices.
Sometimes it's difficult to find a health food cookbook where the meals actually taste good, but that is certainly not the case with Eating for Life. I can't say enough about how delicious each meal is. BIll Phillips and his team out did themselves when they came up with these meals.
The only problem I find with this book is that once the meal is cooked, I want to eat all of it. :)
Book Review: Best Cookbook I Have! Summary: 5 Stars
This cookbook is definitely worth buying! I think it's wonderful even for those who aren't following the BFL program. I know some of the other reviews have mentioned that the recipes don't include nutrition information, and that sometimes "unauthorized" foods are used. SO WHAT?
As the cook of the house, the things that I look for are 1)healthy recipes, 2)simple ingredients that I would have in the house and 3) easy to prepare. This cookbook includes all of those things. Plus- everything I have made so far has been excellent! I also like that it gives you servings and size (ex: 2 cups), which many books don't.
My one gripe is that some of the recipes call for Splenda or Butter Buds or other somewhat unatural products. I just don't use these and substitute other ingredients that I like better for them.
My advice- buy the book and enjoy!
Book Review: Eating For Life/Body For Life Bill Phillips Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't start Bill's program extremely over weight. (I'm 5'-1") I would say uncomfortably over weight, with the love handles that showed it. High blood pressure became a factor at 135# I started Bill's Body For Life program at 130# and lost 11# through his 12 week program and still going. Eating right and doing the recommended exercise I have cut the blood pressure meds in half and feel confident and healthy. (My doctor is confident I could eliminate meds in the next few weeks) Eating for life gives some nice recipes I do recommend it and have purchased both books for family members. Side note I'm sure I could have lost more weight, but due to a few vacations during the 12 weeks set me back a few pounds. I've never had this kind of progress losing weight. Bill brings peace of mind, progress, confidence and ability to take control of your life, back to the table.
Book Review: TOTALLY TRANSFORMED MY LIFE! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is the bomb!! Totally awesome and put together so well...Bill Phillips starts by telling his own weight probelm story and explains in detail how going on a low carb diet can make things worse and you will gain your weight back within weeks. Its okay to eat carbs that your body needs as long as its in moderation. He goes through steps to teach you what foods to buy for each meal, which is so afordable, helpful, and not to mention...delicious!!! I have been using this book for three weeks now, and I am loosing weight and feeling great!!! I am getting healthy by not starving myself. Bill Phillips concentrates mostly on trying to eat your 6 small meals a day, so that you don't feel starved at dinner time, which makes you eat less! Logical...isn't it??? It really works!! It is well worth the price for a stronger healthier life!!!!! BUY IT!!!
