Book Review: An invaluable resource for recognizing imbalance and healing

This book accomplished in one reading what I've tried to do with two different therapists and countless books/articles. Anodea Judith has a knack for writing about chakras & psychology in plain language that I feel anyone could understand, even if you've never heard of chakras before. As I went through this book, I found myself underlining to the point that I would just block off paragraphs, and sometimes entire pages, because I saw myself so clearly in her words. It's that kind of book. And it isn't just me, because I read this as part of a group, and along with 3 other books, and everyone always went back to this book. So often, I or someone else said: 'It's like she wrote this with me in mind.' She does offer exercises for healing at the end of every chapter - and they are doable - so you have a toolbox to begin restoring yourself. For me, just recognizing where issues developed had a healing effect.
Yes, this book deals with Eastern concepts of the body and would appeal to yogis and Eastern-minded people, but I think all others not in those categories would benefit as well. A large part of the book uses Western psychology to explain imbalance, so this isn't a difficult read at all. I couldn't put it down.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough, because it has already been an invaluable resource to me, and I can imagine it will be for years to come as I re-read and reflect, change and grow, and read again. It is nice to have her book Wheels of Life as well, to better understand the chakras, have access to more exercises, and expand your knowledge of the body.
