I purchased this book for my 15 year old son because he wanted to make wallets. The book was in great condition--softcover,79 pages. it had an inscription on the inside cover but that was ok. Actually, my son was very impatient and went online to find out how to make the wallets and had them made before the book showed up. Not that it took long to get here, it was a very speedy delivery, just my son wanted it like yesterday. I don't know honestly if he has ever attempted anything from the book--he really was only interested in wallets but I know he mentioned trying the ball cap which is in there. The book is done in black and white with occasional pictures of statues wearing the duct tape items. Nothing sexual here unless you consider ART sexual. Maybe this isn't the copy I was reading reviews about but like I said, there isn't anything sexual about this book. I wouldn't have a problem giving this to a teenager. It IS a bit old-fashioned with the black and white pics--especially the close up of the woman who looks like the mom from father Knows Best! The directions are simple enough with measurements included, and just a few directions on each page so you don't lose your spot or get confused. There are 14 projects to make-- a wallet, beverage holders, waterproof-flakeproof apron, phonebook cover, cooler/lunchbox, pet rain gear, TV chair caddy, cell phone holder, baseball cap, tool belt, Bachelor's toilet roll cover, watchband, Sou'wester, (which looks like the Gorton fisherman's hat) and shower curtain/tablecloth/poncho. There is also a section on 10 things to do with leftover duct tape.
The book is actually thinner than I thought---8 x 8 3/4 x 1/4 in. thick-approximately. For some reason because of the picture I thought it was hardcover and large. (don't know why)
All in all, if you can get over the 60's style pictures, this book seems to be just fine as far as simple directions and illustrations go.
