Book Reviews of Drop Dead BeautifulBook Review: Collins Is The Ultimate Comeback Kid! Summary: 4 Stars
When a book like this gets bad reviews, I'm sorry, but I have to step forth from the shadows and say WHOA! Time to put my own two cents in. Who are the people peppering these book reviews with such nitpicky negativity? Disgruntled wannabe authors? Jackie Collins is one author who has never disappointed me. She has created a timelessly intriguing character in Lucky Santangelo. And her cast of family, friends and foes are equally painted in vivid colors across the canvas. Some of which you might not necessarily want to run into on a dark corner, but people who nevertheless continue to enthrall us through the years. And having been a fan of Collins for at least 15 years, I was delighted to see her continuing the Santangelo family tree with her mini me Max.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of Collins work of course, and I even AGREE with some points on the lesser reviews, but come on folks! This is NOT Danielle "Mass Production..Sleeping On The Job" Steel, an author who seems to have lost touch with the quality of her work and the demands of her fans. Collins is an author whom started out a bit simplistic and elementary in her writing trash for cash, but has grown into one I will buy from sight unseen without having to rely on a public library for first approval. A woman who takes the time to really tweak and fine tune every aspect of her novels to ensure the most satisfying, explosive bang for your buck. I can only roll my eyes once again at the negativity that seems to pervade so MANY book reviews nowadays.
Am I the only one who understands that these authors are human? They cannot possibly please every single reader on this planet? I expect them to put out a quality, entertaining novel, yes. I expect mature grammar and a fascinating plot. However, I'll attempt to write my OWN book before I'll sit and nitpick apart every last WORD from start to finish like I've seen other reviewers do. And I almost find that laughable considering today's horrid grammar that floats along in the real world. I will "attempt" to thoroughly read a book before making a review. I score my reviews honestly and will no more give a 5 than a 1 if it doesn't completely captivate me or completely disappoint me. Drop Dead Beautiful wasn't literary rocket science, but it WAS a pretty remarkably entertaining novel. My only advice to Collins, should she bring back the Santangelos in a future novel, is as one reader said, freshen things up a little. Kick a few chinks in Lucky's worn out, bad a$$, impenetrable armor. And please! NO MORE HOTELS! Enough about Panther Studios! Enough about the Bonatti's. Give the Santangelos a fresh arch enemy.
Book Review: Better than "Married Lovers" but.... Summary: 4 Stars
I have been a big Jackie Collins fan for years
but she's gotten tired.
When did she lose the edge? I ws able to enjoy
"Drop Dead Beautiful" but oh goodness--who read
the dreadful "Married Lovers"?
Where is the good Hollywood trash anymore?
I am more excited by the new girl Jackie Christian,
the former soap opera writer.
I want Hollywood trash and lots of sex.
Her book is called "The U.P.S. GUY" by JACKIE CHRISTIAN.
Oh god you have to go to Kindle Store and get that book!
I could only find it on Kindle though.
ALl of her short story novelettes are so exciting and
well written but they are TODAY. I love to read these
sexy Hollywood trash books and I am sorry Jackie Collins
but you are being topped by Jackie Christian.
"The U.P.S. Guy" was best I've read in a while and it
should have been written by Jackie Collins.
BRING BACK HOLLYWOOD TRASH NOVELS WITH LOT OF EXCITING
SEX! Go red "U.P.S. Guy" at the Kindle store!
Book Review: The Return of Lucky Summary: 4 Stars
I enjoyed revisting Lucky and the whole Santangelo clan.
The only bad thing about the book was that nothing new really happened. Lucky worried about her kid and her hotel, but this isn't the Lucky we're used to, who normally takes the world by storm. It seemed like JC was trying to pass the torch to Max for future books, but she never really developed Max as a strong enough character to carry a single book, let alone continue the saga. There also wasn't nearly enough Gino -- it seemed like he, along with the rest of Lucky's live-out family, were forced into the book just to make an appearance rather than having anything substantial to do.
The world of the Santangeos is a good one to get lost in for a couple of days. I just wish this one had been a bit less "domestic" and a bit more "Lucky."
Book Review: Another Charmer Summary: 4 Stars
I loved this book! I though it was a page turner. The suspense angle Jackie took in the daughters love triangle (I don't want to spoil it) really made me want to run a few pages ahead to find out how it played out. The characters were full of sparkle and sex appeal. It was a hold on to your hats romance, suspense and behind the scenes peek at at the mafia life all rolled into one. In the end, regardless of the situation, Lucky survived. I can't wait to see what happens in her next adventure.
Book Review: Jackie C. has still got it!! Summary: 4 Stars
I haven't read any Jackie Collins books in years and I must say she still has it. This book had me hooked!!!! It was very captivating from the first CD (audiobook) I loved it & am so glad I picked it up.
