Book Reviews of Dreamweaver CS3: The Missing ManualBook Review: Just like the cover says... Summary: 5 Stars
..."the book that should have been in the box" ... This is a fantatstic, up to date reference I've returned to again and again while navigating my way through a program that on the surface seems unruly. Dreamweaver is like a 'pet' in that it's only as good as its owner, and every owner of this dog should have a copy of "the missing manual". Though this book is big, such depth allows it to be fluid and complete in both its information and conversational tone, which I like, for it is like being in a class with a well-versed teacher that can hold such conversation on all things techy, while never losing his audience of students, attending his class(es) for their useful content and great interaction. I would recommend this book for anyone either just learning Dreamweaver, and coming into the series at the new(er) versions of CS3, or for those astute to the Dreamweaver format.
Book Review: BRILLIANT! Easy to Understand; Easy to Use; Great Index, too Summary: 5 Stars
Highly recommended to anyone who wants to use Dreamweaver the website-creating program, DREAMWEAVER CS3: THE MISSING MANUAL is an invaluable source of information for both beginners and professionals alike.
As thick as a phone book with an exhausting array of information, this manual is wonderfully easy to read because it is written in simple English (rather than jargon) and includes a great index that makes finding specific tips a breeze.
When I first purchased this book, I did a hunt and peck to find exactly what I thought I needed. When I discovered how well written it was, I started DREAMWEAVER CS3: THE MISSING MANUAL from the beginning and now understand better what I initially believed I had mastered. This book is HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Book Review: Excellent learning tool and ongoing resource Summary: 5 Stars
This is an outstanding introduction to both the general concepts and the detailed processing of Dreamweaver CS3, written in a way easy to understand. It took me about 4 weeks to get through the 940 pages but I felt I was learning throughout the process. While obviously a fan of the program, McFarland also points out where it is lacking or confusing, and provides helpful workarounds. The tutorials are comprehensive and instructive. The book exceeded my expectations as a tool for trying to learn the program. As I convert my existing site to DW CS3, I'm now using it as a resource.
I did find a surprising number of typos, though none were terribly distracting. Things like "see page xx" and incorrect file names when describing the steps of the tutorials.
Book Review: It's well named! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a lot of "manuals" for Dreamweaver CS3. Dreamweaver CS3 The Missing Manual was the best. It starts with directions on how to build a simple website, then goes on to tell you how to make a more complex website. Right from the beginning you are building websites, unlike some of the manuals that launch into descriptions of how the program is better than other programs, blah blah blah. (Nice but if you already have Dreamweaver, who cares). Part of what makes it good is that there is an online site where you do tutorials. That means you don't have to download lessons on your computer and you can pick and choose what lessons you want or need. This book has a lot of information arranged in a really usable way. It gets five stars from me.
Book Review: Dreamweaver CS3- Finally has a real book, Summary: 5 Stars
I painful dug thru many of the "well respected" writing out there and none of them measure up to the clean and clearly well thought out to Dreamweaver CS3 The Missing manual by David McFarland .
I recently moved from Front Page over to Dreamweaver CS3 and was looking for the one book to use and have found it after a long and sometimes a painful search.
I had originally purchased Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Classroom in a Book based on the excellent verion of Photoshop by the same group. Yet the version that David wrote is far cleaner and it what I alway recommend to friends an colleges about " the right stuff" You just earned 5 stars from me, and I told hand those out very often...
Keep up the awesome work David !
