Book Reviews of Dragon Rider

Book Review: The Golden One is here...
Summary: 5 Stars

Dragon Rider (or Drachenreiter, as it was originally published) is quite a fascinating novel about a boy, a dragon, and a forest brownie. This is an exellent fantasy for a person who is constantly running low on books, because it is so incredibly long and it draws the reader in like a siren.
A masterwork of ink, Dragon Rider starts as a strange rat character warns the dragons of a peaceful valley of impending danger, specifically of humans coming to flood the valley of the dragons. The eldest dragon then tells Firedrake, a young dragon from the valley, that the only place left to dragon-kind was the Rim of Heaven, enclosed by large mountains in the Himalayas. Firedrake then sets off with a young forest brownie named Sorrel to find the Rim of Heaven and salvation.
Cornelia Funke, writer of so many paper masterpieces, spins the gold of Dragon Rider with straw of beauty and experience, excitement and knowledge. People of all ages will love this book enough to want to draw it up to the table as an honored guest.

Book Review: Corneilia does it again!
Summary: 5 Stars

I heave read Thief Lord and loved it! I'm reading Inkheart and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! But Dragon Rider really, truly, was the best! It was a thorough plot that was simple enough but with challenges. The story never got too confusing and was kept on track the entire time. Well, enough for that boring stuff, I am a hardcore, die-hard, dragon fan, If I were a dragon life would be so awesome! Firedrake is the dragon on the cover. I wish that I had a pet dragon, and I'd name it Firedrake! My favorite character would be (No surprise) Firedrake!! But I did like Ben and Sorrel! I would suggest this book to anyone who loves dragons as much as me (Yeah, Right, No One loves Dragone more than ME!!) When I saw Dragon Rider at the bookstore, I picked it up right away and bought it. I was hoping for a great book with all kinds of dragon-themed adventure, and I wasn't dissapointed, this book met my expectations, then skyroked throught the roof! It was THAT good, so anyone who loves dragons, read Dragon Review: A boy. A dragon. A quest

So starts DRAGON RIDER, by Cornelia Funke.

Did you know that she spoke German?

I did not really like Inkheart so when I picked up this book I thought that it would be no different.

Boy was I wrong! Here you will see why...

This book is about a dragon named Firdrake. (I don't know if that is spelled right.) Him and his his trusty companion Sorrel (a brownie) go on a quest to find a land where dragons and their kin live freely since there are humans coming into Firdrake's land. Along the way they pick up a boy named Ben, get information from a djinn, battle cobras and buy maps from mice. But there is a shadow over the "free land' it is gaurded by the evil golden dragon, Nettlebrand. In the end they have to fight him. The trio may not escape with even their lives...

It is a very good book but it is more than five-hundred pages.

Happy reading!!!!

Book Review: Dragon Rider
Summary: 5 Stars

Dragons, dwarfs, brownies, secrets revealed, Dragon Rider was a wonderful and action-packed book!
In Dragon Rider, the main conflict is that Firedrake, a dragon, Ben a boy, Sorrel a brownie and Twigleg an enemy are off to find the Rim of Heaven. The Rim of Heaven is where all dragons live in peace. There are enemies, however, Nettlebrand an evil dragon and Twigleg, who want to find the Rim of Heaven as well. Twigleg decides to follow Firedrake, Sorrel and Ben to the Rim of Heaven. Cornelia Funke shows every detail of their adventure and how Sorrel is captured.
I also loved the authors craft because each chapter left you hanging and wonder, "What's going to happen next?" I like Cornelia Funke's style of writing in all of her adventurous books.
I would highly recommend this book for 5th graders and up because it might be a bit too confusing for 4th graders and below. Dragon Rider was an action-packed and heart-warming book. This has to be the next book that you read!
