Book Reviews of Dr. Gott's No Flour, No Sugar(TM) DietBook Review: Not impressed-too much selling of 'splenda' Summary: 2 StarsI recommend, "Get the Sugar Out' instead of this book.
This book is a quick fix, stating to eliminate flour and sugar...
but it recommends replacing sugar with nutrasweet or Splenda-not a good
decision! Several nutritionists in the field recommend not using
any of those sugar substitutes, because the body cant break them down
and they increase appetite, and some raise sugar levels just as
actual sugar intake. I was very dissappointed to read this doctor
pushing splenda so much. Splenda is way too sweet for my taste, and
its in everything now. I dont think sugar substitues is a healthy
way to promote a diet.
Book Review: Not Typical Summary: 3 StarsThe book is very good and does include recipes. But, I would say the results are not typical. Both my husband and I have been on the diet for over a month and neither of us have lost weight like the people referenced in the book. The diet says you can safely lose 1-2 pounds per week and we've probably lost only a total of 2-4 pounds in 6 weeks. And we even added 60 minutes of exercise 3-4 times a week.
