Book Reviews of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself BookBook Review: Get Your Child To Journal! Summary: 5 Stars
This is such a fun book! My son, who is almost 7, is hooked on Jeff Kinney's books and had read the first two so we had to get him this one too. It's the first one that you can "journal" in and Jeff makes it all so darn much fun and provides little leads throughout the book to get them started. It's somewhat similar to the Dr. Seuss book titled All About Me which my son really enjoyed. This one is a step above and a bit more advanced. He is almost done filling it up with his thoughts and ideas and has asked for another one to start over with! It's a great book for boys in particular but should get any child into journaling and enjoying it!
Book Review: My friends child loves all the books and he is working on this. Summary: 5 Stars
I took my friends children for their first time to the KCLS and they each recieved their own library card and bragged to their friends and family about them. They learned about responsibility in taken care of books, to make sure they returned them on time and even liked to order them as holds if not in stock at the library. They were 13 and 9 at the time and from a broken home.
When the now 11 year old found out that he really wanted his own copy of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do it yourself book, I was thrilled and bought it for him on your awesome site. Thank you for helping it be easier to get children interested in reading!
Book Review: Not Just For Kids ! Adults Can DIY too. =] Summary: 5 Stars
Ok, I know this was mainly aimed for Kids but I'm a grown adult and I love this quirky DIY book. It's like a Diary/Journal Notebook + some fun questionnaires to fill out about yourself. I always write in my diary/journal in pencil so I can change answers later in the future. But I really love this book and might consider getting one for my 9 yr. niece. Having a diary/journal always helps ease your mind and unwind your emotions. I recommend this book ... totally !! The cartoons are funny as well. Opens up the creative side in your not just for Kids but Adults as well. Pick up a copy and start filling in the Blanks. =D
Book Review: Wimpy Kid a Hit Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this for several children Christmas 2008. In every case (there were 4) this was the present children returned to when they were done opening gifts and they continued to fill it in and make comments. It opened communications with parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends who were in the room with them. One grandson especially enjoyed completing cartoons and drawing his own. These were 8-12 year old boys and girls who were more interested in video games than literature and they chose to read and write on Christmas Day. Hats off to Jeff Kinney!!!
Book Review: Frees Your Child's Imagination Summary: 5 Stars
My 8 yr old son started this book last year, and I have had so much fun listening to him read his entries - all written with the imagination and crude humor of well an eight year old and some of them hilariously spot on. I treasure these glimpses of him, and I'm so grateful there are authors like Mr. Kinney and Dav Pilkey (among others) who are still themselves boys at heart. When my son has finished his "journaling" and has laid the book aside, I'll put it up for safekeeping, as I'm sure it will become one of the most treasured keepsakes from his boyhood.
