Book Review: Nothing against the photographs...

...and, honestly, I haven't seen any of them... but DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. I first read Disderata off an embossed felt poster my in-college mother put on her closet door in 1976. Back then, no one yet knew who'd written it-- someone found it written on a wall in a cave somewhere and it was thought to be much older than it was (even said "Author Unknown" on poster).
After reading it there, my mother gave it to me in a book when I was 19... but the book was white with a page to a phrase and very small, very subtle wood cut prints (a couple birds flying in the distance or a couple stars) appeared on the page with the words and the words alone. No pictures. Or, rather, only the ones in your head seeing a future, embracing a past.
I went online just now to find that book or something similar... and all it seems I can buy are books with photos beating me on the head with their interpretation. Read this amazing work and make your own thoughts-- better yet, buy the poster and think about it in some way everyday; you will anyway once you've read it once.
