Book Reviews of Death of a Salesman (Penguin Plays)Book Review: A Wrong Decision Summary: 5 Stars
I recently read this book for my literature class, and it is to high school level. the book Death of a Salesman is a story about the last two days in the life of typical American husband and a father who has misplace values and considered a suicide solution. There are numerous flash backs to reveled the characters. The man never finds out who he was. He searches for the moment in his life took a wrong turn, the moment of betray that undermined his relationship with his wife and destroy relation with his sons. The father who didn't know how to support his family, and made a a wrong decision for his sons and money . Then the oldest son from the family failed inn his life because he didn't graduate from high school, and when he asked for help to his father,he discovered that his father was an adulterer. The youngest son has success with the girls, but he failing to the study. He never made it to college. the mother loves her family, and she ignores that her husband lied to her. The father couldn't handle the family `s problems and he took a wrong decision in his life. The little of the book gave us a simple idea of what the book is about .The story has a surprise ending. I would recommend this book because it has some themes that relevant in today's society such materialism and adultery in the family. The father thought that his sons had money and his support. The story has a great message of the importance of the father's perspective of his mistakes . The story holds the inters of all readers because the themes of the family's problem are real, and all readers could identify with those themes.

Book Review: A Modern Tragedy Summary: 5 Stars
"Death of a Salesman" is a modern American tragedy. Yet, it can apply equally to any society where individuals become self-obsessed, lose touch with the bigger picture and allow themselves to be deluded by dreams of riches whilst ignoring the beauty of the day to day world.
Poor Willy Loman is a very sad figure. He wallows in the past. He has grandiose dreams about himself and his two adult sons, Happy and Biff. But these dreams are not rooted in any reality. Quite simply, Willy is lost and lonely.
Arthur Miller's play is a masterpiece. Few other 20th century playwrights have been able to surgically dissect society so well. Miller's work is not for those seeking a happy ending where everything is resolved and the characters happily fade away. No, this work is brutal in comparison. Willy Loman is an anti-hero. He is hard to like. He is, however, worthy of our pity. His life, at least through his own eyes, is one of failure. But, in reality, Willy is no failure. He is simply deluded. He has swallowed the American dream to the point where its goals merely impoverish him. The dream, any dream, is what you make of it and should not be imposed upon the individual. Willy allows the dream to ruin his life. Willy is the ultimate tragic.
Many deem "Death of a Salesman" to be a critique of American society. This is unfair. Miller's work is the précis of a tragic life. Willy is that tragedy. To dream is magnificent. To allow a dream to dominate your very existence is a disaster.
Book Review: I should of read this when I was supposed to Summary: 5 Stars
Will Loman is not the ideal of the American Dream or even every man. At best he is donotbethisman. Perhaps that is why he is named Low Man. His life is much like the scenes with young Biff when he is being asked about the behavior. He has an attitude of "What can I do ? I don't have to be any more than popular."Willy, has not pursued the basis for relationships. He has not built his relationships with customers and his friends and his employers through trust and integrity. Are we to believe that the first lie he told the young boss that he trained was the volume he did in the year 1929 ? I don't think so. Willy teaches Biff that it does not matter if he works at studying but just that he is well liked. Who in the end is well liked the frivolous or the industrious ? Not just who is materially successful but who is respected and cared for ? His family has followed his lead. His wife is right Willy is a leader. Biff he teaches to be a thief and Happy a womanizer. Why does the dinner with his sons fail ? Because Biff can't get a job because he is a thief and Happy won't stay away from the women long enough to perform familial duty. Traits they learned from their father. This play is wonderfully written. The moral of the tale is about oppression, that of weak resolution. Not only an interesting story but a great moral tale. No wonder I was supposed to read it in high school. Sadly, for me, Biff and I were out playing ball at the construction site.
