Book Review: The World's only serial killer with a conscience

Dexter Morgan is back in this the second book in the series. Although Dexter has a thrist for blood he sticks to a strict code of ethics about who he can and cannot kill. In fact at the beginning of this book he has just gotten rid of a pedophile and is turning his attention to his accomplice when he is interrupted by Sgt. Doakes who senses something is wrong with Dexter and starts tailing him. This causes Dexter to have to keep showing up at Rita's (his girlfriend) house and hanging out with her and her kids because of Doakes. Amid all this, a serial killer is loose again in Miami and is dismembering his victims to include their eyelids and tongues and leaving them alive. Dexter's sister is working the crime and Dexter tags along to the crime scenes. To complicate matters Deborah's boyfriend (new in this book) is abducted by the serial killer and Dexter must find him before he can be dismembered. To further complicate things Dexter accidentally gets engaged to Rita - you'll have to read it and find out for yourself.
I love how complex and deadpan Dexter is. The humorous portions of the book are laugh-out-loud funny and the serious parts will leave you on the edge of your seat. His plotting, planning and scheming against the criminals is brilliant as well as spell-binding. Lindsay's writing ability makes Dexter a serial killer to love or at least admire. Dexter really gets under your skin, so to speak. This book is a mystery, funny, snarky, and just plain fun. Don't miss these Dexter books!
