Book Reviews of Day by Day Armageddon (A Zombie Novel)

Book Review: Excellent Zombie Story!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This has to be the best Zombie book I've come across! I read it while on vacation and I found myself actually slowing down my reading to make it last. I read World War Z last year and that was my fav until now. Yes, this journal style book is not as long or in depth as WWZ...but it is the different "flavor" that is so dead on(pun quite intended!). The perspective is great-love the main character...Great military details (I know the author is in the military)..

I have to say this-it is refreshing to not read a zombie book and have the military or government look like buffoons. The author does not make it seem like the military or Gov't are beyond perfect or anything. It is just related as real-life situations that the character comes across and you think "wow, I could really see that happening this way".

Only one drawback...I want to read the next damn book now!!!!

Book Review: Awesome first person survival
Summary: 5 Stars

The new trend seems to be long reviews. Some of them are even too long for most newspapers :)

Simply put, this is one of the top three post-apocalyptic books I've read. If you are a fan of military tactics, aviation, Romero style zombies, OR survival books, you'll enjoy this. Even though the zombies are traditional, Bourne created a new and convincing world.

If I had to note one thing I didn't like, it was the journal style. It's a believable journal through more than half of the book, but toward the end there's too much written daily (or every couple of days). Most actual journal or diary entries are brief and introspective. In the second half there's too much of a narrative of actual events to be realistic. Even so, it's a fun ride!

Book Review: Intense, Gripping and Completely Unforgettable
Summary: 5 Stars

Day by Day Armageddon is a masterpiece of survival horror. This fictional diary of a man's struggle to stay alive in a post apocalyptic world full of the shuffling(and not so!)undead will chill you to the bone. The incredibly taut tension in this book of "no where to run to, nowhere to hide" jacks the suspense meter up to almost unheard of levels. The action is fast and furious with bullets flying, bodies falling and many hair raising escapes. I've read Max Brooks World War Z as well and while worthwhile it just didn't generate the type of "edge of my seat" feelings Day By Day Armageddon did. Yes the cover is cheesy but that's really the only bad thing i can say about it. If you're looking for some new horror to read i can't suggest this book more you'll love it.

Book Review: One of the best Zombie books I have read in a long time.
Summary: 5 Stars

J.L. Bourne has a classic on his hands here. I love books about the end of the world and Zombie infestation I have always been a Zombie lover since the first time I watched the original Night of The Living Dead. I would only assume that the author is in or was in the military or has done extensive research on military terms and aeronautics. I couldn't put the book down once I picked it up. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I read the book in one day and cannot wait till the next installment comes out. I was in the Marines and love all the military references and how he portrays the government in times of turmoil. I highly highly highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Zombie literature. If you like Max Brooks you'll love J.L. Bourne.

Book Review: Best of the best!!
Summary: 5 Stars

One of the best pieces of zombie apocalypse story telling ever. I love zombies. I have beeen a fan since seeing Dawn OTD (the orginal) in my early teens. Mr. Bourne has a gift for painting a vivid image in the reader's mind, and leaves you turning pages as time slips by. I hope he completes the sequel soon; I will by it. If you are a fan of the genere, this is a must own. It delivers shocks and gore that should be in any book about this subject, but has you pulling for the main character and the people he comes across during his fight for survival. When the inevitable day comes when the dead walk, and we all must fight to survive; you will be glad that you went on this jouney before thanks to J.L. Bourne.
