Book Review: USE THE FAITH DAVID

THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ALL NBA AND NUGGET FANS THAT SAW THE SKYWALKER BACK IN THE DAY WHEN HE WAS STRONG WITH FORCE IN THE MID 70'S TO EARLY 80'S. DAVID WAS A GREAT AND DYNAMIC OFFENSIVE FORCE. HE WAS A TREAT TO TO WATCH. BUT ALONG THE WAY, HE WENT TO THE DARK SIDE USING DRUGS AND ALCOHOL TO THE EXTENT OF RUINING HIS LIFE AND ENDING HIS CAREER. DAVID DOES A GOOD JOB DESCRIBING WHAT HE WENT THRU AND HOW HARD IT WAS TO GET CONTROL OF HIS LIFE AGAIN. HE DOES NOT GIVE THE READER ALL THE DIRTY DETAILS BUT HE CERTAINLY TELL US ENOUGH TO FEEL HIS PAIN AND APPRECIATE HIS RECOVERY. DAVID WENT THRU REHAB SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL HE GOT IT RIGHT. THE COMBINATION OF GOD AND THE 12 STEP RECOVERY PROGRAM HAS GIVEN DAVID HIS LIFE BACK. DAVID HAS BECOME A DEVOTE CHRISTIAN AND HAS CHANGED HIS LIFE 360 DEGREES. HE HAS BEEN BLESSED BY HAVING HIS FAMILY BACK, VOTED TO HALL OF FAME AND MANY MANY OTHER THINGS. THE BEST GIFT HE HAS RECEIVED HAS BEEN HIS SOBRIETY. WITHOUT IT HE WOULD NOT HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. DAVID HAS ALSO GIVEN BACK BY WORKING WITH OTHER PEOPLE WITH ADDICTIONS AND SPREAD THE WORD OF HIS NEW FOUND FAITH. HE WALKS THE WALK. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR ALL WITH ADDICTIONS WHO NEED HOPE OF RECOVERY, YOU WILL FIND IT IN THIS BOOK.
Summary of David Thompson: Skywalker
Skywalker is the inspiring story of basketball legend David Thompson, chronicling his rise, fall and incredible recovery. Thompson, a once-in-a-generation player, came up in an era when basketball skill superseded athleticism. Thompson had both. In college, he led the 1973-74 North Carolina State Wolfpack to its first NCAA title, and a year later, he was the No. 1 draft pick in both the NBA and ABA. When the two leagues merged, Thompson signed the largest contract in NBA history in 1978. But Thompson disappeared just as rapidly as he had arrived when cocaine and alcohol abuse robbed him of his skills and his composure, his life and his soul. By the early 1980s, Thompson's life had hit rock bottom, and his career was over. In 1996, Thompson was elected to the NBA Hall of Fame and has been named numerous times as one of the five greatest college players of all-time. Today, he is a born-again Christian and been clean and sober for more than 15 years.Basketball Books
