Book Review: 2 Year Old Son Decided This Was His NEW FAVORITE!

My son ADORES this book and I'm delighted to see that there are more David books for us to order! I simply logged in to share my experiences with this book, but I'll absolutely be ordering more!
Anytime I tell my two year old son to go get a book, he gleefully says, "David Trouble!!!" and dashes away to get it. He can't get enough of this one.
I find it useful because it demonstrates David doing things that are very much current "issues" in our house, such as: spilling, pulling the pet's tail, and throwing balls--and what can happen when you do! In the midst of our terrible twos, these are important lessons and they help my son comprehend that these are rules for EVERYONE; they are not random dictates handed down by his mean old parents. ;) Pulling an animal's tail is unacceptable behavior in every house, not just ours.
True Mom confession...I also enjoy it because there aren't a great deal of words for me to read, the illustrations tell much of the story. And my son really studies the pages. I don't have to do very much to read this to him when I'm wiped out! He just sits on my lap and studies each page intently. And they really are beautiful, vivid watercolors. Very pretty. (Much like on the cover, if that helps explain what I mean.)
Anyway, we enjoy it so much that I came write a review...did I mention I have a two year old?!? That speaks volumes! HA! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

"No" and "David" were the first words David Shannon learned how to spell. Shannon's Caldecott Honor Book No, David! is based on a book he made as a child showing a kid doing all the things he isn't supposed to do. In the sequel David Goes to School, it turns out that teachers say no, too. And in this third picture book, it's David's turn to talk back. What does he say when he gets in trouble? "I didn't mean to." (Skateboarding into a lamp table.) "It was an accident!" (Hitting a baseball into a window.) "I forgot!" (Happily walking down the street... in his underpants.) "But Dad says it!" (Boy in corner with mouth full of soap.) Of course, the cat-tail-pulling, burping, grape-juice-dropping, runny-egg-hating, out-of-control David wins us over in the end. A defiant "No, it wasn't me!" evolves into a guilt-ridden, late-at-night shout, "Yes! It was me! I'm sorry. I love you, Mom." Awwww.
