Book Reviews of Dauntless (The Lost Fleet, Book 1)

Book Review: Military Sci-Fi Done Right!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you enjoy novels written for the military sci-fi genre, then this book (and its companion: "THE LOST FLEET: FEARLESS") are exactly what you're looking for: realistic characters and characterizations; wholly realistic space combat scenes; and a unique, new hero in Jack Geary. I won'tgive anything away here -- just read this book.

Book Review: TAKE A SEAT IN THE COMMANDERS CHAIR
Summary: 5 Stars

A very enjoyable read from start to finish. The space battles are the most realistic and convincing in any sci-fi book I've ever read. If you've ever wondered what it's like to be a commander of a fleet, this book does a convincing job. Very well thought out and planned, bring on more books in this series, please.

Book Review: Great fun!
Summary: 5 Stars

It's been quite a few years since I enjoyed a sci-fi book this much. (I think it was A Fire in the Deep, by Vernor Vinge). This is what Battlestar Galactica would be if you removed all the silliness. I quickly read the sequel, and I'm now waiting for delivery of volumes three and four in the series.

Book Review: Outstanding book in the tradition of C.S. Forester
Summary: 5 Stars

This series follows in the best tradition of C.S. Forester and his "The Good Shepherd" novel. Yes, you don't have mindless action throughout the novel but you do get in the mind of a commander and see the reasoning behind the actions and decisions. This is what makes a great novel from standard fluff.

Book Review: Dauntless (The Lost Fleet, Book 1)
Summary: 5 Stars

A very entertaining and well written story. Rather than relying on a series of escalating battles, Jack Campbell has incorporated twists in the story and elements of character development to keep the reader wondering what will happen next. Readers looking for the battle itself won't be disappointed.
