Book Review: One of the most outstanding and original works of our times!

Dexter is a serial killer. Dexter is the hero of the story. You will like Dexter, and you will wonder why. There is the brilliance of Jeff Lindsay. In reading this book, you find yourself siding with the protagonist, only to have to catch yourself and remember that he is just as bad as the people he is killing, but for the code that his stepfather taught him to live by. Dexter is a truly empathetic character who has no empathy.
I could go on and on, but don't waste your time reading what I have written. The time would be better spent reading this book!

If you thought you'd never want to read another serial-killer novel, think again. Jeff Lindsay has crafted an enormously original and entertaining yarn featuring Dexter Morgan, a serial-killer who only preys on serial-killers. Dexter's voice is humorous in a style reminiscent of Ignatius from 'A Confederacy of Dunces,' yet where Ignatius was ignorant of his faults, Dexter is hyper-aware. The story zips along with lots of humor, some grisly killings, and a mystery that'll keep you guessing up until the end.
I'm ready to read the next in the series!

Love Jeff Lindsay! He's my new favorite...used to be David Wiltse & Thomas Harris...no more! (But try David Wiltse if you haven't - I recommend starting with Close to the Bone) :) "Dexter" books are a very quick read, but that's okay...with this being a new show on Showtime I'm sure he's gonna be cranking these out @ warp speed, but the quality will not suffer, no doubt. Like Wiltse, he's one of those authors that grab you with the first paragraph and you can't put it down until your finished! What can I say about Dexter - he's a wonderful character! Its amazing that a monster can be so likeable and so sympathetic. I listened to the audio version and I really loved it. The story is great and Dexter is so amazingly well developed, that you really feel like you know him. One tiny complaint, and this is only for the audio book recording, you can hear the reader swallow and sometimes it even sounds like he's taking a sip of water. Its kind of distracting. He's a good reader, but the editing should have removed the swallowing sounds.Book Review: This book moved me to pieces

My first crime novel, and I picked a winner. This book was wonderful, I never knew a killer I could like more. I mean, Dexter is I think a rare charachter who we learn to enjoy his dark personality and it makes us struggle with our own morals. How would I feel about a KILLER of killers? With my own dark humor and personality, I loved how he drove himself to the edge and where it took him once he arrived in his revelation. I'll be reading Dearly Devoted Dexter, once I can pry it out of my wife's hands.
