Book Reviews of Dark Possession (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 15)

Book Review: Best Book so far in the last three years of the Dark Series!
Summary: 5 Stars

So far in the last three years besides, Dark Celebration the series was suffering the same formula of alpha male meets modern woman, no spark, just makeup sex and nothing in between. So not the case with Dark Possession. If you are having trepidations of buying the book let me put your fears at ease. This book was amazing, it was out of the ordinary, deeply sensuous, heart warming, very detailed orientated, and did I forget to mention that main hero Manolito is just sinfully decadent?
From the beginning, Feehan introduces the reader to the wild world of the rain forest. There we are re-aquainted with the dark Manolito who is in between the worlds of the living and the dead. He is lost and does not remember the single most important person in his life. His lifemate. Unable to deferientiate between reality and imagination, all he knows is that she(his lifemate) is in the living world and he is in between worlds waiting for her...
MaryAnn on the other hand is grieving heavily for the death of Manolito. Unsure as to why she is grieving for the dark handsome Carpathian she sets out to find him and when she does she summons the courage to meet her dominate man head to head. Using both tough love and compassion she sets out to heal the physical and emotional scars Manolito has suffered by the hands of a deadly enemy.
As the story unfolds, three main questions of the series are answered and new ones are formed. One is the main plot of Xavier to destroy the Carpathian people, the De la Cruz relationship with the dark Malinovs and their participation with overthrowing the reign of the Dubrinskys, and lastly the we meet the rejected infamous brother of the Dubrinskys and his participation in the destruction of the Carpathians.
In addition to questions being answered new facets of the series are revealed. A new species is brought in the book, a potential pairing of lifemates, someone is converted as a Carpathian (besides the main heroine), and Juliette's young sister reveals a secret that will break the readers heart.
With all that mentioned, lets get back to the two most important people. the M&M's of the book, Maryann and Manolito. What was so wonderful with this couple is that Feehan did a great job in developing the relationship of both the main heroine and hero. Manolito was dominant, arrogant, very handsome, and highly sexual. However, what made him wonderful was that he was also compassionate, sensitive, and understanding. MaryAnn was incredible as heroine. She was very fashion conscience, compassionate, a champion for the good, and like every woman who has a man she knew when to give Manolito his space to be a protective dark Carpathian and when to slap some sense into his head when his macho attitude went into overdrive. In one point of the book both the hero and heroine each confess a dark secret that cements their relationship. Manolito was so wonderful in listening to his lifemate fears and Maryann was incredible with helping her beloved with his loss. Unlike the previous couples in this series, both Maryanne and Manolito knew from the start that they had to make sacrifices to be with each other, yet both knew they had to be sure even if it meant if one was hurting more than the other. Both knew that there relationship would be rocky, him with his dominant arrogance and her with her girly girl ways and stubborn attitude. Yet what makes these characters different from previous novels is that both characters were willing to bend their differences for each other. Feehan did a great job as she tested the couples resilience by shoving both Manolito and MaryAnn in sticky situations that exemplified what they were great in and what they needed work on. One thing for sure the dark sensuality between the couple was very hot, so hot that I thought my fingers would burn from turning the pages. Hence the quote:
"I waited several lifetimes for you," he confided, his gaze hot as he bent his head to her neck. "I thought of you. What I would do with you. How many ways I would give you pleasure." -Manolito De la Cruz. In addition, to that Manolito paints MaryAnn's toes! How could you not fall in love with the man? The book was a classic in that it showed great romance, adventure, paranormal experiences. It conveyed the nature of true love trampling the dark forces of evil.

A Carpathian event-the new hardcover from the phenomenal New York Times bestselling author.

But when she goes to South America to offer guidance to a young woman, she has no idea of the trap awaiting her. For she's been lured there by Manolito, who has seductive plans for the irresistible human female.

Once there, she'll be his. Once his, she'll never be released. She is his dark possession.
