Book Reviews of Dandelion: Memoir of a Free SpiritBook Review: You won't be able to put this one down! Summary: 5 Stars
From the opening paragraph to the closing sentence, this book is amazing. This woman is amazing! This is not just another memoir and not just another book written about adventures with rock stars. This is the story of a life lived to its fullest both while in pain and during celebration. The adventures that Catherine James has had in her life merit a book, a movie, a hall of fame induction for most incredible life story. I was deeply touched by the events shared in this book. I don't want to spoil it for anyone and reveal the details, but your jaw will drop, your eyes will bug out of your head and you will sigh audibly while reading this book. I caught myself saying, "No way!" out loud many times while reading. If you admire strong women, free spirits, and the best classic rock musicians and song writers of an age, you will love this book. Even if you are only interested in one of those three things, you can't go wrong. I am buying additional copies for friends and family. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful story with the world, Catherine James. You are truly amazing!
Book Review: Dandelion: Memoir of a free spirit, by Catherine James Summary: 5 Stars
This little book has it all----
It's a sad story of a young girl who through no fault of her
own was sorely abused, and had a tragically dysfunctional
family life BUT got herself out of it and ended up living
a life few can only dream of !!!!!! It is sad, truthful, poignant,
funny, harrowing, tittillating, suspenseful and turns out
with a happy ending. Ms. James' down to earth style is
easy to read, and not so " gushy " as other books I have read
of the genre. It left me wanting
I hope she has a second book up her sleeve !
Book Review: Reminder to be spontaneous Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book because I know Catherine's niece. At first I wasn't rushing to read it because of the content. I thought how many books do we need of 60's groupies. When I finally got around to reading it, I realized how wrong I was. Catherine was not a groupie but a young woman trying to find happiness and completion in a time when life was more free and careless. She is relevent and modern throughout the years. She has told the story of a woman who always lands on her feet while jumping in head first. Fabulous, quick read and I reccommend it to men and women of all different ages.
Book Review: A review from Catherines lost sister Summary: 5 Stars
I have not seen Catherine in 33 long years. My niece asked me one day if she could do research on my "other family". Well, to my suprise she found Catherine through her book, "Dandilion" and I immediately ordered the book and OF COURSE got a hold of Catherine. I read the book in one day and I was mezmerized by it and could not put it down. Dandilion is written in such true form. It is powerful, honest, sad, funny and I see my sister as a strong and powerful woman. Catherine, you are my hero and I am proud to call you my sister.
Book Review: Surprisingly well written & poignant Summary: 5 Stars
Several months ago I read this book (lent to & recommended to me by a dear friend). It's the story of an extraordinary upbringing of a girl in an extraordinary time & environment. The book is an easy read, and really stayed with me. It reminds me of The Glass Castle (by Jeanette Walls) I decided to purchase it for my permanent library, so that I can re-read it soon. Loved it!
