Book Reviews of Dandelion: Memoir of a Free SpiritBook Review: loved this book Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this read - this takes me back to a time and captures an age that is rarely captured in any authentic way. The interactions with Bob D. and the great artists of the 60's goes to this perspective on a time that has eluded so many artists. Catherine's journey is remarkable and that she survived to write with spirit and generosity yet with detail that held me fast to the book and not let me put it down. I'm now going through it a second time as a witness to a remarkable time in our history. The early story was painful but set a backdrop for the writer to let go of all the rules and write a life story that is original and not predictable. She reminds us that we live the life we write for ourselves and not the ones that others try to write for us.
Thanks for the good read.

Book Review: A Memoir Worth Reading Summary: 5 Stars
It is pretty rare that I find a book engaging enough to read in one sitting, especially when it comes to autobiographical works. Catherine James's "Dandelion" is an exception. She manages to paint vivid portraits without being overly wordy or resorting to indulgent literary styles.
Unlike the autobiographies of more famous figures which come off primarily as vanity projects, there is something inspiring about James's bittersweet tale of being raised by some insane figures and emerging from the journey with her head still screwed on straight thanks to fate, angels or whatever force managed to guide her through life and place her in some of the most interesting social scenes of her generation.
A big "thumbs up" for this one!
Book Review: Couldn't put this book down! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first book review and I decided to write a little something because this book made me feel so happy, and I think it will make someone else happy too.I have been reading many books on LA rock early 1970's, and then I came upon this little TREASURE. It captured me immediately, and I really hope that Catherine will write another book, because she brought joy to me, and through the thick and thin she remained spiritual and asked and she received! I think this book gives more than just insight to the wonderful days of English rock stars and American poets (which is what intrigued me in the first place), it is inspiring and gives you courage to see the good in any situation.I hope you pick it up, you may just want to read it again and again.
Book Review: Simply the best! Summary: 5 Stars
Dandelion: Memoir of a Free Spirit is eminently more readable than similar books of this genre. It is truly a chronicle of one of the most interesting periods in pop history and recounts a lifestyle many of us shared that will never again be repeated. Catherine James' writing style is clean and straightforward with an honesty and emotional impact that left me longing for more. This is a true tale of perseverance and survival. Catherine is a remarkable woman with an amazing life story that should end up on the big screen if any producers out there are looking for material. I have read and re-read Dandelion and recommend it to all my friends. I recommend it to anyone reading this review. Buy it and read it (and then pass it on to your friends).
Book Review: What a great book!!! Summary: 5 Stars
When I bought "Dandelion", I wondered why the title? After reading the book I realized Catherine's story is a lot like the little dandelion plant, it's beautiful flower on a long steam and a strong resilient foundation. The dandelion also possesses the ability to flourish in almost any environment, hostile or nourishing. Catherine's story is very much like the dandelion she survived the hostile environment of her childhood; she flourished and sprang forth as a beautiful flower. This is a wonderful book, filled with inspiration from a triumphant spirit. Even if she had left out the famous faces scattered among the pages this would be a book well worth the read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am going to buy a few copies to give for Christmas.
