Book Reviews of DaemonBook Review: Daemon Summary: 5 Stars
Daemon is a great book which is the first of a series. The second book in the series is called Freedom. Both are super exciting action adventure/sci-fi books. They're scary because the author is in a position to know what is now technically possible and the way the books tie in occurances in the real world; i.e. "Too big to Fail," joblessness and unemployment, large corporations running the world, etc. leads you to wonder if this story either is possible or it's really happening right now and we just don't know.
After I read Daemon I was so hooked on the story I wanted to read Freedom immediately if not sooner, so be prepared. These are stay up all night books. Even if you don't understand all the techno jargon, the story is still strong.
Book Review: even a non-techie can LOVE this book! Summary: 5 Stars
When my husband suggested this to me, I thought he was joking. Leaving reviews on amazon is perhaps my most advanced computer skill and I'm just not a scifi/technie type...but geez! I couldn't put this book down! And as an aside---I rarely *love* books--I'm horribly critical with novels!! (I almost never leave reviews because I hate being the lone person giving 1 or 2 stars!)..but I'd give this one 6!
And although this book had long parts and some unnecessary storyline (that a good editor would have nixed) it was really a page-turner -- It's going to make a fantastic movie---and never has any book made me rush to download its sequel quite like this one did! I was barely finished, and already downloading Freedom.
Book Review: Not easily put down Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this up last week looking for some light entertainment out of my normal genre of fantasy and was very surprised by just how much I liked it. The book is entertaining, fast paced; believable enough to where it almost makes me unplug my Internet connection.
This book is an excellent start to a writing career that I look forward to following. I will be marking the sequel down as a must have.
This is a techno thriller portraying a type of Internet doomsday. Although there are a lot of hi-tech things portrayed within the book it does not require you to be an IT expert to understand. The author has done a great job and this book should appeal to the technology expert and us everyday readers as well.
Book Review: Just hang on Summary: 5 Stars
A billionaire game designer, Matthew Sobol, dies a premature death and sets in motion a series of incidents utilizing a common innocous software program.
Suarez weaves together a variety of characters into a taut technological thriller.
With his first novel, Suarez has provided a scary scenario of computers and technology that are reminiscent of Crichton.
His storytelling brings you into this frightening possibility and immerses you to the point of having to pause once and a while to make sure it is not real.
Schedule the time to read this book in one sitting because you will not want to put it down.
This is the first of of what is going to be a fantastic technological journey.
Book Review: Snowcrash's worthy succesor Summary: 5 Stars
Daemon is an exceptional cyber thriller that feels authentic and plausible despite the astonishing sequence of events that transpire. I am constantly seeking books that speculate about the near future and this novel succeeds in taking trends of MMORP and citizens detachment from reality and fascination/dependence on technology and computers and projects an all too real scenario. I suspect the author did not intend to make analogies to the current economic global meltdown and the consequences of this sequence of events but whether intended or not this book stimulates some insights. Oh yeah, it's a lot of fun as well and you will have a very difficult time putting it down.
