Book Review: Many good recipes, a few misses

Overall I have been very pleased with this book after having tried several recipes. Some of the ones I have liked include: chicken and wild rice soup, quick vegetable beef soup (which is mostly canned items that I can throw together in about five minutes before work, though I add a few sliced carrots and celery to make it more "homemade"), beef stew, herbed mushroom beef roast, barbecued ribs, beef and vegetables in red wine sauce, chunky vegetable clam chowder, orange pumpkin custard, and a few others.
While there have been a few recipes that I didn't care for (the white chili comes to mind as being more of a bean soup than a chili), overall, I think this is an excellent book and I would recommend it to others.
For the negative review of the person who tried some of the recipes, well, some cookbooks just appeal to different people. I have gotten rid of many cookbooks that didn't fit with my family's needs. At least you made the effort to try them first to verify if they worked for you or not.
However, for the negative review of the person who hasn't even tried the recipes... If they don't appeal to you that's one thing, but I think it is unfair to post a negative review based on prejudice about a recipe that you haven't yet tried. Be a little adventurous! You might surprise yourself and discover that you have a taste for something you didn't expect!
