Book Review: An AMAZING accomplishment in children's literature!

As owner of a children's bookstore, mother of 5, and LONG time fan of Don Freeman's books, I have often wished he had written more than 2 books about Corduroy!
Many favorite characters from children's literature have suffered at the hands of commercial endeavors and adaptations (think Curious George, Winnie the Pooh and even Corduroy), but this book is the exception.
The collaborators have made a thoughtful contribution to Don Freeman's legacy in EVERY way. The story line is completely true to the originals -- and the illustrations completely capture the feel of the original books.
What a fun project this must have been... and what a great accomplishment!! I own the book and will be buying up more before it goes out of print, which I suspect it will unless more Corduroy fans find out about it quickly.
Summary of Corduroy Lost and Found
A classic character in children's literature for nearly forty years is back for a brand-new adventure! Corduroy the beloved bear slips out very early one morning to get a birthday present for Lisa. He spies what he thinks is a yellow balloon up in the sky, thinking that would be perfect for her. But when the sun rises, the balloon (really the full moon) disappears. And now Corduroy is lost. Lisa finds him, but not before Corduroy succeeds in getting just the right gift-a lollipop as yellow and round as the moon. This brand-new Corduroy picture book is written in the whimsical style of Don Freeman and illustrated in the exact scratchboard technique he used to create Corduroy and A Pocket for Corduroy.General Books
