Book Reviews of Contact Harvest (Halo)Book Review: Halo back story Summary: 5 Stars
Quite simply put, this book takes you back where everything began.
It is done very well.
I am not giving anything away but it explains nicely what the covenant has against the humans.
A very good read.

Book Review: Disappointing... Summary: 2 Stars
Well, as a Halo fan (books and games) I had hoped that this would be as good as Nylund's Halo fiction... but it wasn't. Usually I finish a 300-700 page book in about 7 hours, but because Contact Harvest was so BORING, it took me a few days. the plot is interesting, but poorly written(most of the novel was devoted to politics, not cool for a Halo book). I mean, it sounds great, the first meeting of Humans and the Covenant, the first battle of the war, and a bit of a back story of Sergent Johnson, but unlike Halo: Fall of Reach, the Flood, First Strike, and Ghost's of Onyx, this book had no engaging characters or any real twists of the plot, and nothing written in Alien perspective.
The basic plot goes like this: a Kig-Yar(Jackal) ship encounters a Human cargo ship bound to Harvest and murder the Human Captain. Humans send a ship to investigate, find the Aliens and there is a small space battle. Later, the Covenant send a few ships filled with Brutes and Grunts to Harvest to meet the Humans(hence the name "Contact Harvest"). After a mutual misreading of intentions, the Aliens attack, and. . .I'm not gonna tell you the end!
That's really all you need to know, so my advice is to read the book(just to be done with it), but don't buy it.
Overall: 4.5/10, fans of the series should read it, but it's not a great book.
