Book Reviews of CompTIA A+ Complete Study Guide: (Exams 220-601/602/603/604)

Book Review: A+ Certification Study Guide Review
Summary: 4 Stars

I have read 200 out of the 800 pages within this book. So far, it seems to be a very well writtin study guide, with much detail to almost all aspects of the IT Tech field.

I do believe once i review over the book after my initial reading, i will have no trouble passing the A+ exam.

Book Review: Love the book
Summary: 4 Stars

Very well written and presented. I would surely recommend it to anyone who wants to take the A+ certification.

Book Review: Good info, poor organization
Summary: 3 Stars

This book is loaded with information and personal accounts about how to pass the A+ exam and demonstrate sound technician abilities. However, I found the book to be poorly organized. By reviewing all material in order of the exam objectives, as this book does, it means that the book will cover some material 2,3 even 4 times (some exam objectives cover the same material). I can't recall how many times I would be reading the book thinking "I've already read this ...", all of which adds to a feeling of inefficient time use. Also, the electronic exams, quizzes and flashcards aren't very good in my opinion. You can't sort the flash cards meaning you have to read them in the same order ever time and there isn't a method to save your quiz scores or review them effectively. Lastly, the book doesn't help organize your study time or give a holistic studying approach, it just gives you a whole lot of information.
With all this being said, the information and writing is strong and the authors give helpful anecdotes and real life examples that bring the material to life. If I were to do it all again I think I would shoot for the examcram book as it looks better organized. Books should be organized for the reader not for the exam. It doesn't really matter what information is in what part of the exam, just that the information is covered at some point. Good luck to everyone on their exams!

Book Review: Not bad, but be careful
Summary: 3 Stars

I haven't read through the whole book, but some things already seem off base. For example, a question in the beginning asks the reader to differentiate between a USB 1.0 and a USB 2.0 visually. There IS no difference, (look up a USB cable on Amazon!) but the answer in the book claims that the insulation on a USB 2.0 cable is clear. I feel bad for the newbie who reads this and tries to memorize it. It is a good book, just remember to question whatever doesn't sound right

Book Review: This book is okay.
Summary: 3 Stars

I would have to say it isn't much better than A+ for dummies but it's not bad. The main thing that really annoyed me is that many large chunks of text are simply repeated verbatim in different sections. The repetition accounts for a good deal of the material in this book. If you can get it at a good discount go ahead but don't pay full price for this book.
