Book Reviews of Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana

Book Review: one of the best books on nirvana
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book for school. I found this ...old highlighted version of the book so I started to read it, and I was immediately hooked on it. I couldn't put the book down. I later received this book for my birthday. However, the book is more of Kurt's life, but gave excellent facts of the whole band and how it originated. It told of how Kurt battled drug addiction, and how the press hounded Courtney and the unwanted fame Nirvana had. The book is very well detailed, and the book seems like Kurt was actually telling you his life story. Several people that hardly knew who Nirvana was demanded to read the book as soon as I was finished with it. So of course I highly recommend it!

Book Review: Couldn't put it down
Summary: 5 Stars

I couldn't put this book down. As it was a biography of Nirvana, not just Kurt Cobain, it felt more complete. It didn't focus as much on the other members, but at least they had a very recognized presence. It also does not focus extensively on Cobain's death because it was written beforehand. However, this turned into a very positive thing because the whole book does not revolve around the drama of his death, but the wonder and hardships of the band until that point. There has been a lot of controversy over the happenings of Cobain's life in particular, so it's hard to say which book is more accurate. However, this book was convincing and very interesting.

Book Review: This is Nirvana, warts and all!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Because Nirvana only visited the Republic once, and also because of the lack of media coverage given to them in Ireland, I thought of them as just a faceless rock and roll band like any other band on the television. When Cobain killed himself I became interested in everything about them. The book allows you to understand the true story behind the band and gives a valuable insight into the generation America chose to forget. The author does not worship the band on every page. He simply tells the story and highlights the contradictions, lies and myths that surrounded Cobain. It's a killer book that you can read again and again and always find something new.

Book Review: Look no further.....
Summary: 5 Stars

Imagine a book about Nirvana that contains more information than you ever dreamed of & once you finished reading it, you just had to read it again, & then again! Well imagine no more coz this is it! I am a HUGE Nirvana fan & I have ALOT of stuff on them & this is by far the best book I have on them! It contains information on Krist & (mainly) Kurt's childhood, their teens, their thoughts, becoming famous, meanings behind their songs, information on their albums, Kurt's funeral & a new final chapter that covers the last year of Kurt Cobain's life. If you like Nirvana then you simply MUST own this book.
