Book Review: Whimsical, creative , genius, FUN, FUN, FUN

FINALLY, I HAVE FOUND THE COLLAGE BOOK I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR,(I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING THEM FOR YEARS). THIS APPROACH TO COLLAGE IS SO FREE AND FUN, ANYTHNING GOES. THE AUTHOR DOES NOT FOCUS ON BRAND NAMED PRODUCTS, WITH AN EXCEPTION OF A FEW OF HER FAVORITES. ANYONE CAN PICK UP THIS BOOK AND MAKE A COLLAGE WITH SIMPLE SUPPLIES, WHICH IS SOMETHING I REALLY APPRECIATE. NOT EVERYONE CAN SPEND BIG BUCKS TO "PLAY" AND EXPERIMENT UNTIL THEY FIND THE EFFECTS THE ARE LOOKING FOR. I ALSO LOVE HER IDEA OF WASTING NOTHING. SCRAPS, OLD ART, CLEAN UP PAPER TOWELS, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE IN HER ART. I HAVE BEEN TRUELY INSPIRED. I HAVE ALSO PURCHASED HER DVD "RETRO RAGS", ANOTHER WINNER! I CAN'T WAIT TO USE SOME OF HER FUN TECHNIQUES IN WITH MY ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A FUN, NON-FUSSY APPROACH TO COLLAGE MAKING,
BUY THIS BOOK BEFORE YOU BUY ANY OTHER. HAVE FUN!!!

I love art books but prefer to check them out from the library instead of buying them - I'd rather spend my $$ on supplies. However, when I find a book I want to refer to over and over again, I buy it. This is one of those books! Traci takes you from simple, quick techniques to more in-depth, time-intensive projects. The best part? With a little time & patience, ANYONE can master anything presented in Collage Unleashed. Traci's fun & free spirit drips off every page as she encourages you to use color and fun in your art. With clear directions, lots of pictures and a wide variety of great ideas, this book is a definite MUST HAVE. Collage Unleashed is the polar opposite of "stuffy" - you will find new techniques and lots of inspiration. If you want a book that will push the envelope in helping you create beautiful paper art, then this is it! I first saw Traci Bautista featured on a DIY crafting show, and that is how I found out about her talent and her book, Collage Unleashed. Her fun use of color and her graphic styling is what drew me to this book.
In her book, Traci uses some of the most interesting background coloring techniques to jazz up plain paper for use in collaging, paper crafting and journal making. Written in easy-to-understand wording, she inspires the reader with her painting and stamping techniques, and adds artful wording to the mix to create a unique look of layered, graffiti-style art on paper.
If you love colorful mixed-media art, collaging, stamping and paper crafting, I think you'll love this book as much as I do.

One of my favourite books since Sabrina Ward Harrison. I really love this book, I see it as "an absolute must" to have and keep absolutely. Everything is crazy in it, but it's exactly how I love to work, and though I'm a teacher in Art&Craft, and Artist and writer, I learnt a lot of new things in this book. I read it several times, and I tried many things from it. It's also a lot of fun, it is for readers who like original, crazy, different Art. If you like the very classical way, oh no, it's not for you.
There is a true freedom of way to do things in this book, and it is what I love, it is fun, not heavy and sad. It is for everyone and it's not pretentious, it is exactly how should be Art : Beauty for everybody.

Book Review: Awesome Book!

I have experience taking a class with Traci Bautista. I was amazed by her generous and helpful spirit and loved the class. This book goes through the fusion dyed paper technique I learned and love. The instructions are straightforward and easy to understand. The pictures are fabulous and in the back of the book there is some collage type sheets to scan for yourself to use. Even if you are not familiar with all the materials in the book, I know you will love it. I highly recommend it. GO OUT and buy Traci's book!!! She is extremely talented and you will not be disappointed. In fact, you need to buy the book and take a class with her too. Her website references the classes she teaches.
