Book Reviews of Code: Veronica (Resident Evil #6)Book Review: Zombieriffic! Summary: 4 Stars
Claire Redfield has been captured by the Umbrella corporation during her quest to find her missing brother Chris. She is taken to a remote island where, you guessed it, a virus outbreak occurs. She must escape the prison, island, battle all sorts of monsters and stop the insane genius behind the island before she can get on with the search for Chris again. Not having played the computer game, I cant say how true to the game the book is, but, the tone of the book continues the eerie, bleak, hopelessness of the other books. Parts of the book imbue the feeling you would get when playing the actual game. Alongside the introduction of a new monster the novel also sees the return of a character from the first Resident Evil, one who by all right should be dead, and interesting developments regarding the Umbrella Spy, Trent are revealed. Overall, another chilling gem in the Resident Evil series, RECOMMENDED!
Book Review: My Review Summary: 4 Stars
I've read all of the books in the resident evil series by S.D. Perry and own a lot of the resident evil games. But this book definitely stands out. It gives the reader an awesome perspective of all the character's emotions. Like Alfred Ashford who is in the book like obsessed with his Twin sister Alexia and Perry gives an excellent description of how little by little Alfred starts to snap over his sister. I guess it'd be pretty hard not to snap when you grow up watching your family perfrom horrible test on other humans to find the ultimate bio weapon. She also gives detail to the fact that Alfred is also a sick human being and how when a guard did something wrong when he was little or Alfred and his sister just didn't like the guy. they would numb him with drugs and stick needles in his sides.... All in all i really enjoyed this book and thought Perry did an excellent job!!!
Book Review: Itchy. Tasty. Summary: 4 Stars
I am a HUGE Resident Evil fan, and have read all six resident evil books. This was one of the best books I've ever read. The majority of the book which involved Claire and Steve on Rockfort was great, as was the way Perry wrote from Alfred's point of view. I also like the part where Chris found about Claire being on Rockfort. I gave it a four because, while it was a great book, I would've liked to have seen more action with Chris. Chris's part was incredibly rushed. And Wesker had almost no relivance what so ever. Perry should have used the CVX version of the game to base the novel. That way the scene with Claire and Wesker would've been included, as would the incredible fight scene between Chris and Wesker. Most of the bosses from of the game were excluded. Still it was a great book and is a great read for any resident evil fan.
Book Review: The war moves to a new battleground. Summary: 4 Stars
Claire Redfield breaks into the Paris HQ of Umbrella to find her brother Chris, but is captured instead. From Paris she is taken to a top secret Umbrella facility on Rockfort Island in the Southern Atlantic (evidently a stone's throw from both South America and Antartica). Before anybody can get their torturous hands on Claire there is an attack and a T-Virus outbreak. Now different monsters run the facility, can Claire escape? S.D. Perry's sixth contribution to the popular survival horror adaptations and spin-offs maintains the solid standards she has set with the earlier books, though the climax here feels a tad rushed. Fans will enjoy it. Recommended.
Book Review: Rushed Summary: 4 Stars
I thought this book was good but for some reason it just felt a little rushed. I think that she should've spent a little more time in detail about how Chris got to Antartica also. But the way she writes from the evil persons point of view is also superb. She knows exactly how they think and act. But, instead of just reading these reviews, buy it!!!
