Book Reviews of Cobain Unseen

Book Review: Insighful and absorbing!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is WONDERFUL. A truly insightful and absorbing book. I was immediately engaged and found myself feeling like I was in Kurt Cobain's world for the few days it took me to read it. This is one of those books that you try to read slowly so it can last longer. "Cobain Unseen" is packed with photos, flyers, notes, writing, a tons of cool fold-outs and pull-outs. I realized while I was reading it that along with being a wonderful biography of Kurt Cobain's life, this book also functions as a portrait of addiction in a very profound way. I recommend this book to Nirvana fans as well as people looking to gain a better understanding of addiction through this candid look at one person's life and struggle.

Book Review: If you're looking for a full biography...
Summary: 5 Stars

Loom at Heavier than Heaven, by the same author. This book is more of a physical testament to a larger-than-life star - contained are Cobain's journals, song lyrics, artwork, and photos of his most treasured mementos. Every picture in the book is described in detail, with the when, where, who, and why explained.

The biographical information in the book is a neat summary of what can be found in Heavier than Heaven, and it's purpose serves more as a companion to the photographs and reproductions than a full-fledged volume. However, it works nicely with the concept of the book, by not overloading you with too much information and leaving you to enjoy the true purpose of the book.

Book Review: Cobain's legacy
Summary: 5 Stars

Great book if your looking for a brief history on Grunge's greatest musician without having to read a million pages. Brilliant in showing unseen photos and various artifacts that pulls you into Kurt's dark world. Often discussed yet highly misunderstood, this book somewhat clears the air on Nirvana's front man. Nobody will ever know the whole truth reguarding his death. However these previously unseen photos will keep his legacy alive and give you something to remember by. Great for someone wanting to know about Cobain with great insight and lets the reader judge him through these photos.

Book Review: Cobain Unseen
Summary: 5 Stars

Charles Cross has done it again. This is a must read for any Nirvana fan or for anyone who wants to know more about Kurt. It contains all sorts of reproductions from Kurt's personal belongings and even a CD. I also highly recommend reading Cross's book about Cobain entitled "Heavier Than Heaven". He's a great writer and his extensive research is evident when you read these books. You get to know Kurt as a very complex individual with tremendous talent and hidden demons. These books give you an appreciation for one of the greatest talents in modern Rock.

Book Review: Just great.
Summary: 5 Stars

the photographs are really great.
the content of the book as a scrapbook is
completely amazing (the facsimile presentations
of certain texts are just amazing).
if you are a fan or just want to make
an anthropological approach to the cobain persona,
you should buy this.

for those ones who don't fig nirvana's music so much,
it's a very pretty edition. as a collector of books-as-objects
it's a great choice.
ENJOY!
