Book Reviews of Clear Your Clutter With Feng ShuiBook Review: Best de-cluttering book ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I have read several de-cluttering books, all of which whipped me into a de-cluttering flurry for a few days that quickly wore off as real life took over. I could never really finish, and the clutter would come creeping back. This book, however, put clutter into such a different perspective that I was able to get rid of things I had been hanging onto for years with no regrets, and I was able to stop bringing clutter into my life. I was a bit skeptical about the Feng Shui stuff, but getting rid of my clutter has freed up so much energy in my life, so I'm going to look into other Feng Shui books. To echo other reviewers, this book is light on Feng Shui but big on clutter clearing, and it is easy to read. I was surprised by how small and brief it was, but Kingston states things so powerfully and eloquently that she has no need to ramble. Buy this book and rid your life of clutter now!! You won't regret it!
Book Review: What a Motivator!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an essential book for those procrastinating clutterers who find every reason in the world to keep their useless junk. When I find my self growing lazy and the "stuff" is starting to pile up, I read Karen's book again for inspiration. To date, I have gotten rid of 32 bags of junk from the kitchen, master bedroom, the guest room and the garage, and there's more to go. It's so much easier to move and breathe when the clutter is gone. This is a wonderful companion piece to Karen Carter's "Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life." Believe me, you can't "Move Your Stuff", in order to "Change Your Life", if; a) you can't find your stuff and, b) have no where to move it to, because, c) every where is already full of "stuff". Make some space and give away what is not useful in your life to some charity. Be positive, just think of the stuff you won't have to dust!
Book Review: Great book despite the weirdness Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, you have to weed through some mumbo jumbo when reading this book but see it as shopping at an outstanding discount store and avoiding the occasional "slightly irregular" items. There is some great stuff and like another reviewer said, it is the only book I have ever read that made me get rid of anything. The arguments she makes smack you in the face and say "wake up!" Why should I keep my beautiful "Alice in Wonderland" book on my bookshelf when I haven't looked at it in 5 years when there is a little girl in a hospital room who would just light up if she were to have it? I guess you can tell that this book made me clear the bookshelf that I *have* instead of buy a second one to store books I don't look at.A definite must for anyone who opens their closet door only to sigh a mournful sigh.
Book Review: The most effective book on Feng Shui for the novice Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this book on my bookshelf for years and it is still the one I turn to for quick inspiration. Karen's concepts make sense. There is the usual placement-directions-colors you find in all Feng Shui books, but this book helped me most where she writes about WHY certain clutter isn't helpful, and made me think about what I really want in my home. Why was I hanging on to things that no longer inspire me, and in fact, might even keep reminding me of that which is long in the past and not relevant to my life today -- and the kind of life I want going forward?
The result is a home that holds the things I love, displayed in a manner that feels pleasing to be around.
This is the one book I would not be without. It's small, inexpensive, and my "bible" when I need inspiration to clear out what's in the way.
Book Review: Clear your clutter!! Summary: 5 Stars
This book was loaned to me by a friend. I was very impressed with it, bought one for myself and extras for my kids. It gave a clear, practical way to attack the clutter that was not only messing up my surroundings but affecting my emotional state as well. It explains why we save so much and allows us to see that we can get along without much of it. It's very freeing. I've tried to get rid of clutter for years, but nothing worked like this book. I was energized to clear a very small area and couldn't believe the results. Clearing away that negative energy allowed me to continue to clear away other small areas. The emotional lift it has given me is beyond belief. I still have a long way to go, but I am making concrete improvement -- something that hasn't happened before. Practical, non-judgmental, effective -- highly recommended.
