Book Reviews of ChrysanthemumBook Review: I teach 4 year olds and... Summary: 5 Stars
...I think this is a terrific book. Chrysanthemum is a very real and likable character. Henkes does a great job showing how teasing really does hurt ones feelings! As in every Henkes book, this one has a very happy ending. I have read this book MANY MANY times and I always get a little teary at the end of the story when Chrysanthemum feels so good that she "blooms"! Chrysanthemum and the book: Owen (also Henkes) are 2 of my all-time favorites.
Book Review: Magnificent! Summary: 5 Stars
This book appeals to my 5 yr old daughter who is the only english speaking child in her French School. Sometimes being teased by her friends about her French she identified greatly with Chrysanthemum and begged me to read this book daily for at least a month. It helped her over a stressful period. Today she is no longer teased, but she still loves to read the book. She always go to sleep with a smile on her face after reading this book.
Book Review: a classic in my book Summary: 5 Stars
What's in a name? IS a rose by any other name really as sweet? This charming story is a must read for any toddler or preschooler, especially for any child who has a creative name, or a story behind their name.
It expresses the wishes that parents have for their children when they give them "special" names, to express how unique and precious they are, and to let the rest of the world know their value.
Book Review: Chrysanthemum Summary: 5 Stars
Chrysanthemum is a wonderful book. I like this book because it's funny, and because it's by one of my favorite authors. I think it is great for people who need a heart-warming story, and for people who think their name is not perfect. Chrysanthemum is a little girl who thinks her name is perfect. When she goes to school, however, Victoria says her name isn't perfect. Read this story and find out what's next!
Book Review: Kevin Henkes does it again Summary: 5 Stars
We love the little mice of Kevin Henkes, and Chrysanthemum is no exception. This is a really sweet book about being different, and being okay with it. We have a ridicously long last name, so we read this one to our five-year-old girls in case they encounter a similar problem in school. It also provides a good starting point for discussions on why we don't make fun of other children's names, or for any other reason.
