Book Reviews of Chord ChemistryBook Review: One word: Essential Summary: 5 Stars
If you can only afford one book for the study of guitar, this is your best choice! Most other books on the subject of chord theory present a chord form, and tell you how it's constructed...end of story. Ted Greene takes chords and derives an exhausting amount theory and application that it enables you to take a simple chord and run with it. There are very few educational resources that I would recommend for others, but this definatly qualifies. Buy this book!
Book Review: Best Guitar Book Summary: 5 Stars
If you want to play well, this is it. You will learn not only chord structure, but how to build them (on the fly) and why you are doing so. Some basic music knowlage is helpfull. Warning: You have to WANT to LEARN to get the most from this book, however IT IS WORTH THE EFFORT! Ted Green's 'Modern Chord Progressions' is a nice companion. I have had an earlier copy scince the 70's and never found anything better. (Music theroy is not a bad thing )
Book Review: Lots of information.. Summary: 5 Stars
Wow...What a book. It goes really deep into chords, all possible inversions and variations. A book you will use for years, never end learning from it. Also, it encourages you to learn more on other important aspects, like sight reading, ear training, etc., and to be musical, not a cyborg who knows a zillion different chords but can't use them. Really pleased with it, I would recommend it. Never too late to start really to learn.
Book Review: Ted used all these Beautiful Chords in his playing Summary: 5 Stars
Hi All, I studied arranging for guitar for 5 years with Ted Greene. He did integrate every chord in Chord Chemistry and Modern Chord Progressions. As well as all the chord runs and licks in his Single Note Soloing books. Teds books teach you how to play beautiful chords on your guitar and what to do with them. Yes, some of the chords are hard to play, but they can all be learned and then are easy. Happy Guitars, MidiVox
