This book gives the reader a good view of how to raise and care for chickens. It feels like the author is speaking right to you. I got more information from this book than any other how to raise chickens book. Humor is entwined throughout this book and as we all know chickens can be quite humourous in their actions! I'm sure you will enjoy this book for its stories and helpful information.Book Review: Finger lickin' good!

I inherited 4 bantam hens when I purchased a house and would be completely lost without this book. Reading like a "Chickens for Dummies" book, it takes the reader by the hand and walks you throught the basics of keeping chickens, particularly for pets or for show. As my chickens lost feathers or became broody, referring to this book kept me from panicking and running to the vet.Book Review: A great beginner's Chicken Book

This little paper back book is full of useful information. We checked it out from the libary so many times it started to fall apart. I figured if we are reading & needing it that much, it's time to buy the thing! It gives you information on raising chickens, culling, & housing. It is easy to read and understand. I had a problem with one of my chickens eating not only her eggs but the other girls as well.I did a ton of research and spoke with alot of "chicken people". They all said to get rid of her. This book gave me the answer! I now get the eggs I've been waiting for.. It's full of GOOD practical advice. ...or check it out from the library, I guess that would be fine too. But anyway, I have raised chickens for eggs, show, and pets for about nine years. This was the first book about them that I bought and, despite collecting more books over the years, remains my favorite. Easy to read and understand, it proves that chickens are really quite simple and fun!
