Book Reviews of Chicken Soup with Rice: A Book of Months

Book Review: EVERY book is educational
Summary: 5 Stars

this witty little book makes my son laugh at loud. i recite it in the car as we're driving along and he always can sing the refrain. he's learned about whales, India, drooping roses: i love all the new words this book introduces and the silliness of it all. this is a classic book i am willing to bet my son will STILL be able to recite from memory when he is in college

Book Review: Poems and pictures children really enjoy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this book to be once of the best childrens books I have ever read. The pictures portrayed the poems wonderfully. A great way to spend a rainy day with your child, or to teach kids months of the year. This book really lets your child use their imagination. You should try watching the video with them too so they can see the book come to life!

Book Review: Great Kindergarten Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

Each month in my kindergarten class we memorize the chicken soup poem for the month. The humorous rhymes, pictures, and predictable pattern make it easy to learn. Kids love it, and months later they can still recite all the poems from the preceding months! I bought the big book also, and cut apart the pages to make posters to display every month.

Book Review: A Gem of a Book
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful little book. I loved it 40 years ago and my twins love it now. They enjoy helping me finish each month by singing "... chicken soup with rice!"

The cute drawings add to the fun -- but be warned, one of them is very un-PC! We're not in 1962 any more, Toto.

Book Review: Can't explain why
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has been a favorite of mine since I was able to read. It was one of my first introductions to poetry, and the humorous rhymes have been an inspiration to me in my own writing. This is the type of book that college students reminisce about and bond over--it really is that simple and good.
