Book Reviews of Chasing Harry Winston: A NovelBook Review: Read ONLY if there is absolutely nothing else available Summary: 1 Stars
Chick lit is what it is meant to be; light, fun and fast. This was not. It was too simple, no plot, no transitions from one story line to another and what bothered me the most was that these "best friends" were so jealous of each other's successes. In my world, these ladies are not true friends and I hate that women are potrayed in this way; so petty and small that we would begrudge our best friends' happiness. I understand a little healthy envy but not straight out jealousy. That made me want to stop reading it altogether, but I was on a 14-hour flight (and the only thing I had to read); it was what I had purchased thinking it would be a fun read a la Jennifer Weiner. Oh well, can't win them all. I would skip this one though, it's a waste of time, unless you are on a 14-hour flight with nothing else to read and no good movies on.
Book Review: POINTLESS WASTE OF TIME!!!!!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
This book was horrible! It had as much substance as a soap bubble. That is what I get for buying the book because I loved Devil Wears Prada without checking the reviews. I will not go into depth because it has all been said but I hope that if enough one-star reviews are left someone might get the hint that having nasty, selfish characters that the reader hates and a pointless plotless story will turn off loyal readers. Writers these days need to take time to develop their books instead of churning out drivel so they can make lots of money while their name is hot! Maybe if it was quality writing (unlike this effort,) readers might stick around. I am done venting:)
Book Review: SO disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
I really enjoyed Prada and read lots of Chick Lit. I ignored the bad reviews here, with the notion that when reading ChickLit, I want something light, entertaining, and character development just isn't as crucial, IMO. The title turned me off a bit, as a hate the notion that women must "chase" after an engagement ring, but the strength of Prada made me look forward to reading this book.
What a mistake. The characters were shallow and unlikeable. The plot was so thin, and the supposed "friendship" between them was miserable. I didn't bother finishing this book - which is very unusual for me.
Book Review: Trapped on an airplane with this novel Summary: 1 Stars
I picked up this novel before a six-hour flight and suffered through it because it was the only thing I had to read besides the Skymall catalog.
I liked "The Devil Wears Prada," and to an extent "Everyone Worth Knowing," but this novel was absolutely horrid. All three of the characters are unlikable, shallow and insensitive. I wasn't rooting for any of them to catch Harry Winston until they went through some serious emotional growth.
This book was not interesting or funny. All of the situations and dialog are very flat. I would not recommend this to anyone.
Book Review: Horrible!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I think this is the first bad review I have written on Amazon, but this book definitely deserves it. I first saw it at my local Sam's for around $10, but got a used copy here at Amazon. Glad I did not waste much money. This is a complete waste of money and time for any reader. What a disappointment coming after Lauren's "The Devil Wears Prada."
I often wonder how books like this (and movies!) get out the door when they are clearly trash.
